Been looking at cars over by you Robert... If i find one to look at we'll have to meet up. My last 2 cars both came from your area actually.

Bear so cranked up today, the spazergy is just oozing out of him. I wonder if I could bottle it and use it.. Hmmmm.

We had a slap fight yesterday... He always wins.

This place has been dead lately...

Can't get pumps to work properly so in the bin they will go damnit.
One had air cylinder damage and it never worked. The 2nd something is wrong as getting hydraulic oil on air side which is no Bueno. The money they get for parts is twice a new pump. I get new hoses with new pumps also.

Off to let Bear put a few more bruises on me.

Don't agree with Lars on points/condensor replacements, they are not ideal but once setup you can forget about them. HEI is really the way to go as the increased spark and readily available upgrades make a huge difference.
A high output coil and distributor(i used a Mallory setup) added hp and and higher rpm range. I added a CD box so could tune it exactly where wanted it. Plug gap was also increased. No way to get that performance out of points.
Leave the key in run position and can burn points up, always keep a set of point n condensor with tools in car if have them along with screwdrivers to change or file them so can get home. Back when amlady carried a nail file and is perfect for filing points and a pack of matches (cardboard) is good enough to set points.
God I'm old.

Will HEI affect the fitment under the hood? Want her to look close to original without being “NCRS” exact correct. Also want dependability.

Had roller cams out in instead of flat tap.

Found this carb online since mine is hodgepodge truck carb.

Msd distributor may fit better and look more period than a traditional GM HEI as there is a significant physical difference. Not sure a traditional HEI fits anyways.
Pertronix just eliminates the points and condensor with possibly more consistent spark timing. Does nothing for increasing spark or anything else.
When they came out many long years ago I ran them in a couple of vehicles only because an HEI wouldn't fit or didn't want to modify aything.
Your current setup is good enough to get you rolling, and costs you nothing. You can always upgrade distributor at any point just as easy as now.
Hell just a better coil can wake an engine up some.

Do I need to get you a taller ladder so he's not standing on the top of that one and falls... I've never done that...

I chewed his a$$ out a few times. He’s an accident waiting to happen.

We have taller ladders but he thinks this one is lighter and easier to move. Since he had to move it every 2 screws) and there were HUNDREDS, this was his selection. 🙄
