This was all political theater by former governor Rick Perry. Those same state troopers were prohibited from inquiring about immigration status or detaining obvious illegal aliens once they get past the border. Still prohibited at this moment, despite a new law that is supposed to take effect this September.

Only now, in 2017, do we have a law requiring those DPS troopers and other LEO's to ask about status and detain illegal aliens stopped in the interior of the state, and that will definitely be litigated in court, so I doubt that it will actually take effect next month.

And it was Trump that made that possible, not years and years of open border, red state leadership. The best analogy for Trump I see is future John Connor, from the Terminator franchise.

We need to reallocate our military resources, drawing down some foreign garrisons to redeploy those assets on our Southern border, and we need new ROE's that allow and insist that those invading troops be attacked and repelled by force.
