Can't get a divorce amicably? Split assets evenly? If child support, arrange payments? You only need a lawyer to file the papers, mine cost $500. Uncontested, I just showed up at court a year later.....done.

I know it's not pleasant, but if the other half is greedy, and you don't need it, give it up. It will make for a less stressful ordeal. Why pay for the lawyers to go back and forth and fight, they don't give a shit, just want your money.

Sorry Aero. My best advice is regardless of the split of assets, make it a clean break. Leave no loose ends to arise at a later date. I didn't do that and I regret it every day.

Her crazy ass already paid a lawyer almost $2k for filing "UNCONTESTED" divorce papers.

We haven't even come to any agreement. The papers are weird. "We pray that the court will grant the terms of the agreement and if an agreement cannot be reached, that the court will divide the community property as the court sees fit"...or something like that.

I found that, after a devastating divorce, living good is the best revenge. I vowed to make a better life and never forgot that vow.

That does not mean lots of money and grand things. It is just taking care of yourself and working to make your life better.

Solve it the best way you can without fighting her. In the end the lawyers will take a large chunk of change and you will still lose most of what you are fighting for. The court system protocols in divorces are not designed to protect men.
