Yes, Teslas can burn as well but the fire risk is 90% lower.

What an absurd statement.

Great memory! My Audi SQ8 was stolen, along with 10 other vehicles, from a hotel in Houston. Ironically, whoever stole it, burned it.

I saw a pulmanologist today and he said I have a moderate case of smoke inhalation. I have an inhaler and I'm taking a steroid. Back to the doc next week. Jeep is aware and they said they'll do "everything to make it right" for my daughter and me. We shall see!
Beautiful family. Hope you recover quickly.

My wife’s Jeep Cherokee has been a great vehicle. She’s considering an upgrade to the Grand Cherokee but y’all are giving me reason to think about it.

Just don't get the Pentastar engine if you do go that route. Bad juju there.

Daughter has a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Hemi, that car has had more expensive repairs in the shortest time period of any other car I've ever heard of....seems we've finally thrown enough money down its gullet that its been behaving recently. She loves the car or I would have set fire to it myself. Glad you are OK, I had one car fire in the garage in 2016 and haven't unpuckered yet.

The coughing is gettingbworse, so I'm seeing a pulmonologist thisxafternoon. I went to an urgent care facility yesterday and x-rays showed "moderate" smoke inhalation. Breathing any amount of burning plastic isn't good.

My wife had a 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited that was absolutely flawless for about 30k miles before she traded it for a 2021 Lincoln Aviator. That's why my daughter decided to buy the Jeep, even though it was the first year of the complete redesign. Run away!

Sorry to hear that. Your health is most important
Getting Jeep to compensate you & your daughter properly will be an interesting journey 🤯

Wish you nothing but the best. Keep us posted

Does Jeep still use the organic wire coverings that mice like the eat? Seems like a real bad electrical short.

Bullshit. I was in the auto industry over 40 years and this is not true. I've owned cars over 100 years old that ran on gas and never caught on fire.

Also, as an automotive guy, I would not recommend any Jeep product unless you lease it or get rid of it in about 3 years or 30k miles. They are basically a poorly finished version of an Audi or BMW with the same problems attached. Nice for the very short term, with good seats, power, ergonomics, etc.
But very expensive past the 3 year, 30-40k mile mark.

@jw38 most of my problems with My grand cherokee L was the telemetics module within the uconnect system. I was constantly fighting that system. My Jeep was in shop 10 timesin first 6 months. You certainly have a case against Jeep if you want to pursue. The Facebook group for Jeeps Grand cherokee Ls also provides lots of evidence for how shitty the new ones are.

Not at all, backed up by studies..
One study is by miles driven and the other one is by vehicles sold. In BOTH studies, EV's showed a significantly lower fire risk. Both studies were in scale using different scales (fires by vehicles sold and the other one by miles driven).

Just shut the **** up. We get it. EV's are superior in every way.

Tell that to the 8 year old kid in Africa mining cobalt. Guess you'll find something on the internet to prove it's not true because, you know, everything is real on the internet.

I forgot. I have you on ignore on CF. Bye-Bye IDIOT!

I'm just pointing out that claims that EVs have a higher fire risk are not based on any facts. If you don't like what I post, put me on ignore here too.
I'm not going to shut up. My posts are based on facts, not emotion. I get it, many people dislike EV's and many or most of them oppose them because they think that they are "LIBERAL" which is total BS. If you are so worried about Cobalt use, why don't you throw away your smartphone and don't buy one again.. There is just as much cobalt in consumer electronics than in EVs.

Posting facts is not a bias.. I extended the offer to those who don't believe the studies I posted to post studies that support their view and opinion.... and it caused..

the silence of the lambs.. crickets... There are no scientific studies that show EV's as having a higher fire risk than gas cars..

You're talking about those folks who are completely blinded by their hated of EVs, right?

They will suggest that every single study that doesn't represent their view is not trustworthy and biased, yet don't have any study from any source they like that shows otherwise..
