Default Total loss in accident

Have been fighting with the insurance company after someone turned in front of me at an intersection. I had the right of way and hit them on the right rear quarter. The Trackhawk took a hell of a hit. I thought for sure it was totaled at the scene. Insurance came back they were going to repair it. Last Monday they finally decided to do a total loss. It sucks, the Jeep was such a great vehicle, in two years it only returned to the dealer for oil changes and tire rotation.
I'm waiting for Monday and the call to start going thru the loss. Never done this before so a learning for sure.
Don't think I'm going back with another Jeep Trackhawk, too close to retirement. Sure will miss the 707 HP and the whine of the Supercharger.

Buy it back and put the drivetrain in a Power Wagon. 1980s style, not 1940s.

Glad you weren't injured in the accident. Good luck dealing with the insurance co! Hope you had gap coverage.

Don't need GAP, should be close to 25K equity. The drivetrain is questionable at this point. I think that is what drove the insurance to total. The engine shut down after the collision, they rolled it but unsure of the transmission and transfer case. Likewise the blower and internals they were unsure of and didn't want to take the $25K gamble on them being good I guess. They were in the process of getting all the parts, two front frame rails, engine cradle, fenders, hood, front grill, RT headlight, windshield, airbags, dashboard, RT suspension, three rims, four tires, the list went on for a long time. I could have bought a new Grand Cherokee loaded with the V6 for the amount they wanted to spend on the Trackhawk.

I wouldn't want it back after a heavy hit. I guess you could have negotiated a diminished value settlement on top of the repair, but....you would always know.

As far as what to replace it with, it couldn't hurt to look at the same model in the used market.

I'm leary of looking at the used market with what some people do with them. I pushed mine hard at times but not abusing every day. They were meant to be driven hard but some of the people go a little overboard with it. Plus with the way ole forgetful is going, the price of gas is going up a bit more. I'm looking at something I can pay off in about 2 years and be debt free with retirement. Working on a deal for a vehicle in San Antonio TX, I'll know Monday or Tuesday if they will have the numbers right. If I settle this week with insurance, it might be a trip to TX to pick up the vehicle.

Yes. The dipshit dealers around here are not at all helpful. The one 1/4 mile from the house kept asking, do you really want roof rails, how about a different color, maybe drop the cargo system. Then the great answer, I can order you one and it might be here in 6-8 weeks but there is that chip shortage so it might be longer. To hence my reply, I'll just go out of state and get one equipped the way I want, the color I want and the price I want. She couldn't believe me either of driving to Texas to pick up a vehicle. I'll have to do the slow drive thru and wave when I get back. This is the second vehicle these clowns missed selling me. Same thing happened the first time and I drove to Apple Valley MN to pick up the Transit Connect. Maybe they don't understand if a customer wants a specific color, options and model maybe they should get it.

Same thing around here, three of the last four I’ve bought have been out of state, fly in and drive home

Today I get the call from the Insurance jerks and they have decided that the vehicle is now repairable and they are proceeding with the repairs. I'm pissed beyond anything right now. I've contacted an accident, diminished value, substandard repair guru and will chase the insurance to the edges of HELL. Going on 6 weeks and all they have done is torn apart the car. Supposedly it is on the frame rack, just like I was told last week which it wasn't. I told the asshat at State Farm, I want every piece of documentation, every measurement, every factory spec for the repairs. If it does come back to me, it will be gone over with a fine tooth comb and each and every little nit picking thing will be corrected. I bet they will wish it they had done thru totaling it by the time it is over.
I actually had my insurance agent ask if I wanted to stop the claim with them and go with the other insurance company who was at fault. Shithead, I'll have a new insurance after this. The jerk up in claims was quoting all the wrong stuff for diminished value, pissed me off to no end.

Sorry to hear about the circle jerk but if they want a fight, give it to them.

At least you were OK

Something went right for a change. The insurance called and decided to total the Jeep. Waiting on the settlement, they gave me the numbers and it about blew me out of the water. I basically drove a 707 HP Trackhawk for two years and only depreciated $1200. If you factor in the taxes I actually made money driving the Jeep for two years. I am shocked to say the least.
The fun dealing with dealerships has already started.

I can't lie, I'd be heartbroken to lose the Trackhawk. Absolutely LOVE those Jeeps. I have the V6 Grand Cherokee and love it. Wanted a TH, but didn't want to pay that much for another car right now because I want the Caddy Blackwing when it comes out.
