(Bloomberg) -- Saudi Arabia executed and crucified a Myanmar man in the holy city of Mecca on Wednesday in a rare form of punishment reserved for the most egregious crimes.

Elias Abulkalaam Jamaleddeen was accused of breaking into the home of a woman from Myanmar, firing a weapon in it then repeatedly stabbing her, which led to her death, the official Saudi Press Agency reported, citing an Interior Ministry statement. He was also accused of stealing weapons and trying to kill another man whose home he broke into, as well as attempting to rape a woman.

The ruling was supported by the country’s supreme court and endorsed by the king.

Crucifixions in Saudi Arabia entail hanging a body in public after an execution, and are unusual. A Yemeni man was crucified in 2010 for raping and killing a girl and shooting dead her father.

I don't have a problem with this.

Quick, swift punishment leaves no doubt as to what the consequences are.

This controversy about the 'cocktail' they give at executions, and the pain/suffering it causes is silly. Give em what they gave out. Pain and suffering and misery. And death.

Perhaps if we made the consequences more severe than a lifetime of free room and board, people may reconsider their actions. A bit of fear like that can be a good thing.

I like it. You do stupid shit, you get stupid reactions.

More of that type reaction and such things as car chases would actually decrease in the US. Instead, we get to watch Joe/Jane Dirtbag drive around until they get tired, run out of gas, or crash into and injure someone innocent. The last one really pisses me off. Meanwhile the cops are trailing along and giving off the vibe of, "Please stop". I say go crazy and actually stop the joy riders. Shit, I think there might even be a coupla cops who'd like enforcing the law.
