Default '87 Seat belt issue... need help please

The Seatbelt light comes on intermittently when driving. I disconnected the wire under the seat. Still comes on. I don't even have to hit a bump in the road for it to come one. I can't even figure out what makes the light go out when it does this.. but it does.. only to come back on again a bit later. Any thoughts?

If i'm not mistaken when you buckle the belt there is a switch in there that completes the ground. I would try grounding the wire going to it if it goes out replace the buckle or switch. If it doesn't you have a wiring problem.

What! an actual C4 on-topic technical post in VB?

I agree, simulate the closed belt by completing the circuit in the buckle. Most likely the contact is worn in the buckle somehow. Don't know if you can open them up or not.

As has been said, that would have the opposite effect of what you want to do. To make it go out you would want to jump the connector.

If you can't fix it the "right" way or simply don't want to spend any money on new parts for it, putting a jumper in that plug would make the light go out for good... assuming that the problem is in the buckle/switch area.

Tell me OP, does the seatbelt buckle look like a Camaro's buckle from a distance?
