I served on and de-commissioned the USS Iwo Jima LPH-2. The article above tells the story of the death of some of my shipmates. I still believe Captain " Iron Mike " was ultimately responsible for their deaths. He pulled the trigger when he ignored the CHENGs advice. |

As I recall there were two events involving USN ships.......
And saw some stuff on the .net about the one hit by a freighter.....and that the freighter did some krazy stupid maneuvers, including a U turn at speed, that led straight into the side of our Navy ship..... yet they blame the Navy crew for not seeing that night time blacked out freighter.....like it was a deliberate move by the freighter..... or was what I saw, all bullshit?? |
