Need lawnmower help here.
My parents are no longer able to cut the grass at their home. They have a 2016 SCAG 20 HP Freedom 48 mower with 200 hours on it and they wish to sell... now... at the end of the season... in Massachusetts. The mower has not been well maintained as Dad is 86 years old; it has 2 flat tires, the ROPS bolts are all falling out, the deck bearings roar because they are dry and it dribbles oil from the no-tool oil drain plug. I have no photos so bear with me please... my brother is of the opinion they should be able to get perhaps $3500 for it: I think $2500 (2300??) and let it go now to the guys who took over maintenance for them. It is paid for, and serviceable but needs some love.
I am seeking opinions of your valuation and why as I try and help the folks out because Dad thinks I am not on his side financially right now. |

$3,500 doesn't look unreasonable based on a new one at @ $ 5,200, but this is the time that no one is in the market, and it would sell better at any time if it was freshly serviced, new tires if necessary. Unless they just need the money now, maybe wait until the Spring? |

Here's one on ebay that's been maintained for $4150 or best offer
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-SCAG-F...AAAOSwnhNdtGQD Sorry to say it outloud but the lack of maintenance is a major hit to the resale value. Bearings run dry may fail at any time even if greased and quieted down. At least air up the tires and tighten all the bolts to make it look nice. Lack of maintenance means take the first somewhat decent offer. |

It's not worth quibbling about a lawnmower, no matter what is decided. |

As for the mower, I agree price it to sell and move on, if the mowing company is interested, that’s the perfect out. |

Age 75 here wife is 68, I"m in same shituation as your folks, but I manage to chase the mower around, it's the rest of the crap the kids should have but the closest is similar at 900 miles, and other is out in Ca. shipping shit that far greatly exceeds the value....plus my son in Ca. is getting a divorce, and of course she keeps everything, my 5 y/o grandson out there is the anchor keeping my son out there at krazy living costs.....he want EAST really bad, but no go.......so all the family junk will be tossed I suspect......

Apparently Mom is having her own issues with my Father's mortality since they are keeping it until spring "because he might still want to do things himself". Can't argue with that... I wish them both the best.
