Don't Like the Beeps!!! - Another tale from Leah (the dog)
about a month ago, at about 3am, i hear a "beep", and a few minutes later, another. get up, look and listen, narrow it down to the smoke detector on the wall in the BR. it doesn't do it again, so i figure it's a random occurrence, and let it go.
last night, at about 5am, happens again, a beep every 2-3 minutes. wakes me up, wakes Leah up. she's not a fan of beeps in any form. get the step ladder, pull the battery, and unplug it, so it will stop making noise until I can get to it later this morning. beeps stop, Leah returns to her bed until i get up around 6:30am. do my morning chores, and when those are done, get the batteries and ladder out to replace all 5 batteries in the various smoke detectors. each time i pull the old battery and put in a new one, i get a beep. and Leah gets more frantic. as I'm doing the last one in the Living room (it's about 11 feet up), she's about to lose it, climbing all over the couch and coffee table. finally get all done, put the ladder away, and go to my office, and now she's sleeping nicely on the tile floor behind me, confident that she has chased away the evil beeps. yes, she does have a soft doggie bed in my office, but she's not in that presently. she's a weird dog. lovable, but weird.
