So the thinspokes are really starting to grow on me...
When I purchased the car I was dead set on getting another set of Classics for the car, but the more I have it the more the thinspokes are really growing on me. I guess after 6+ years of having a black center race/mesh wheel w/ lips on my yellow car I'm enjoying the opposite end of the spectrum (5-spoke, clearcoated polished, no lip).
They're amazingly easy to care for and clean, and they really are a nicely designed 5-spoke. The only thing I don't like is the offsets... I wish they were flush w/ the body panels. I can get some rear 18x9.5s for the front and run a spacer setup for the rear, or more my rears to the front and get an aftermarket 18x10.5 pair for the rears. I'm unsure if the aftermarkets from House of Wheels match the actual OEMs exactly. I've been staring at wheels over and over (Classics, 505As, oem Z06, oem Z06 Z16).... some 505As would be nice, but $4k for wheels/tires aren't in the cards at the moment.

I always liked the thinspokes, I think they are quite stylish.

I think the thin spokes look great...especially on a car lowered on the stock bolts.

I have always liked the thinspokes as well. The problem with them is they just aren't wide enough. With some spacers I think they will look a lot better on your car. I like the idea of getting a set of rears for the front.

Yeah the 18x9.5 wheel has a much better offset for use up front.... but the rear wheel still needs to come out 1/2" which requires ARP studs. The consensus seems to be that you can't run more than a 1/4" spacer on the stock studs.
I'm thinking of just getting 1/4" spacers all around. I need to swing by your house one day and actually installed 2 of your polished classics to see if I like how it looks on a vert... the pics I've seen online dont' do it for me.... it's like the vert is calling for a flashy 5-spoke.

I think getting 1/4" spacers all around would be a good idea. You're welcome to come over anytime to try the polished classics on. It will probably make you really want a set though. I know for a fact they will look great on it. |

A buddy I sold the old silver '98 to has a set of big streets in full polished for a good price. Thing is I don't want them that big... big = heavy. I want 18x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 rear.

Decided to go ahead and try something different... have 2 more rear polished thinspokes coming and have a pair of 275/35/18 tires coming. Going to run a 1/2 spacer on the rear w/ longer studs and keep the stock 18x9.5 and 275/40/18.
The tire setup will create 1.1" of overall diameter difference between the front and rear per flyinmiata's online calculator. They're the two outside wheels in this picture Should look something like this when I'm all done...

Buying the car from Tbyrne pre-modded doesn't get you off the hook Plus it's not my fault that the economy makes for cheap used car parts.... I buy everything used from the forums.
Most of what I've done I allready had in the garage or on the yellow car.... the stuff I've purchased is still less that what a fancy set of wheels/tires would cost. After this I'll probably get C6Z51 rotors and caliper brackets and have the calipers and brackets powdercoated Red. |

If you want/need some 1/4" spacers for the front like you mentioned, let me know, I have a set of billet spacers I bought for the new wheels and didn't need.
I also have TWO sets of Thin Spokes in the shed...need some TLC to get the cleaned up, but...
