Default Need a new Windows laptop

What's a good one for business use (mostly) and under $750? Going to Germany in a couple of weeks and only have a *gasp* 2GB iPod Nano to keep me company.

I know Gateway (used) to have US based support, I'd like that if possible.

Prefers fast, good memory, wireless, DVD.

Keep an eye on Dell. Although I really like NewEgg and their refurbs/open box have some nice deals every once and again.

The new Ipad is being announced today..why not grab an Ipad for entertainment? MUCh better battery life than a $700 computer will have.

My TB drive has 875Gigs of work on it. Lots of graphics, video and 10 years of archive files.

I just bought a 2TB drive to use as a backup drive.

I recommend SAGER. There are made by Clevo, probably the best out there. There customer service is great. You get a laptop with or without OS on it. Real simple and very fair prices. I got mine from Gaming Laptops - XOTIC PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks

I beg to differ. My last 3 laptops from them have all had serious issues, including the $5,000 m6500 I bought. I've owned nearly 24 new dells here at the house over the past 15 years. I will never buy another Dell.

If I were in the notebook market, my next would be Asus.

I have a 3TB drive in my network storage box now. I was going to add a 2nd drive but HD prices are through the roof right now.

The same drive I bought last fall now costs nearly twice as much now. Still recovering from floods and tsunamis over there I guess.

Stay away from Dell. I've seen a lot of Dell's with all kinds of issues. Acer is a decent inexpensive laptop IMHO and you can't go wrong for what you are getting. You'll have to "Decrapify" it by removing some of the pre-installed junk.

ok.....but I've purchased 6 new Dell laptops over the past 3 or 4 years for my company use and we have had excellent luck with ALL of them. And none of them were more than $1000.00.

My fiancée has been in charge of laptops for medical reps the last 6 years. Wayyyy too many failures that I won't touch one. Her and I have been running Bio's and HP's ( I think a total oh 7 hp and 2 vio over the last 10 yrs)

We love the HP's and have pretty much tuckwiththem and have even very very happy with them. I open to most depending on pecs and a solid feel but HP's tend to beat others out for what we want out of them.

Cool link! A lot of great price to performance ratio of laptops there bookmarked since im in the market for a me lapto. I'm looking for an i5 or i7 with 6 or 8 gigs. Hdd space is minimal and wonde if the could install ssd drive instead.

They can do anything you want. And, you can upgrade etc and it does not void your warranty with them. They also have ASUS which has pretty darn good reviews too. I have a 5160 model I bought last year. Not one thing wrong with it. You can email them and they will work with you . Not so much with bigger companies. I have had 4 Hps and Compaq in 7 years. I like the Sager.
you can have hdd in the normal spot and where optical drive goes, and they have some SSD's.
