Somebody has to start an Iowa Caucus thread...
So here it is:
Ted Cruz won the Republican Caucus with 28% of the vote, with Trump at 24% and Rubio at 23%. On the Democratic side, Clinton and Sanders are deadlocked at 50% with 99% of the votes counted. Clinton, the national front-runner, admitted breathing a "big sigh of relief" after escaping Iowa -- the state she handily lost to Obama in 2008 -- but promised a vigorous campaign with Sanders. Basically, though, all it means is that Cruz picked up 8 delegates, and Trump and Rubio picked up 7 each. Hillary has declared victory, but the race is a virtual tie with Sanders, with Hillary getting 49.9% of the vote and Bernie with 49.6%. I wonder if the Democrat Party realizes what it means if it nominates a Socialist for President? |

I would rather have Edward Snowden as President than Hillary or Sanders.

One's an avowed socialist and the other is trying to avoid the label but in reality is one too

Not really. Obama has lied his way around the label of being a Socialist, but Sanders is an avowed Socialist. Although I'll not speculate on how low the Democrat Party will sink, I wonder if it realizes that endorsing Sanders will leave the Party wearing a "Scarlet Letter" for a long, long time.
Of course, I base my reasoning on how devastating Socialism will be to this Country. As Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples' money to spend." Under Socialism, I think this County would see a mass exodus of people with money, thus leaving the Country unable to pay for the giveaway programs of Socialism...all caused by the Democrat Party. |

Previous two Iowa winners were Huckabee and Santorum. They like their Republicans all nice and religiousy.

Quote:
The results mean little for the Republicans when you look at history. I think it may hurt Cruz in future elections because he played the evangelical thing up for Iowa. The big winner of Iowa going forward may be Rubio. With a strong third place finish it gives his campaign momentum and the news media and establishment will beat that drum hard. The biggest loser of the evening was Hillary Clinton. She tied with an avowed socialist who is a flake. She can claim victory all she wants, it won't be the first time she has lied. |
