My stories of dealing with stupid people.

As most of you know I work at Advance auto parts in Thibodoux ,Louisiana and in the past couple of weeks I have been noticing a trend of stupid that is alarming. Here are a couple of examples. I figure VBOT would enjoy this.

1. Customer calls for struts in his/her (could not tell if it was a man or a woman) for a 2003 Nissan Altima.
Me: What motor does your altima have in it?
He/she: The regular one.
Me: The regular one huh? like a v8 right?
He/she: yeah what ever the regular one is.


2. Customer number 2 calls and says he has a 1998 dodge ram 1500 that has the 318 v8 in it. Says that it wont start, what could cause this.

Me: Well are you getting fuel to the motor and if so are you getting spark from the coil pack.
customer 2: yeha its getting fire, I ran a wire straight to the battery. It had better be getting juice.
Me: Sir that is not a good idea.Do you know any good mechanics?


Customer number 3 came in yesterday to buy transmission fluid in for his 1991 f150
Now another guy in the store was ringing him up and he looks at me and asks.
Customer 3: hey does transmission oil float on water?
Me: yes sir it is a petroleum based product so it will float on water.
Customer 3: So all I have to do is drain my transmission of all the water and it will run fine?
Me:No sir, you should flush the entire transmission.
Customer 3: yeah but I dont have that kind of money, Im just going to drain it and add 2 quarts and it should be good.
Me: sure why not.


Now this last guy, this guy takes the cake as far as stupid goes. I honestly have never had a question like this in my entire life.
Customer 4: I need an upper radiator hose for my 2003 dodge durango.
Me: ok I have it in stock for 19.xx.
Customer 4: can you describe it to me?
Me: describe it?
Customer 4 : yeah can you tell me what it looks like.
Me: well its black....
Customer 4: well I know its black, but what does it look like.
Me: well it kinda looks like a water park slide at an amusement park.It starts off at about a 65 degree angle then swings hard right for 3 inches , then the bottom falls out of it and then it evens out as it gets toward the bottom.
Customer 4: idk that doesnt sound right....
Me: well if i flip it around it goes straight for about 4 inches, then turns hard left for about 2 inches, and it almost goes vertical for 3 inches.
Customer 4: man that sounds like it! ... ill be in tomorrow to get it.

It's called life......stupid people are everywhere. I figure 80% of the population lacks common logic/critical thinking skills, maybe more.

I hate dealing with people that don't have a clue. Nothing frustrates me more than trying to have a conversation with people who don't have a sniff as to wtf I'm talking about.
