Default A day with the farrier
First, a couple of shots of JR and Julie that turned out well.











And here is one of Mocha. He's the one getting shod in the pics.

I think Philip may be buying him. He want's to anyway.
I would, but gotta buy the farm first, then the livestock.





Here's our Farrier. Notice the hoof print over his left eye?



OK, nahhh, he didn't get kicked. He did break four ribs and his shoulder-blade by getting tossed from a horse.
Now, TJ was born on a horse. He's one of those guys that knows all there is to know about horse, and has forgot
more than you will ever know.

So it's LIke "TJ, how the hell did you get tossed from a horse?".

"Well, we were riding through some brush, and my leg was pushing a branch aside, and it snapped back and caught
my horse in the flank or belly, and he reared up, throwing me off."

"Yeah but TJ, I've seen you ride a rearing horse just like the Lone Ranger, I've even seen you ride out a bucking bronc."

"Well, I might have had a beer or two....cases"


Anyway this is TJ's son filling in. He was done in less than 20 minutes.

I actually had to toss a lot of photo's because I wasn't doing something right. I had the flash off, and I think just being under the overhang was enough shade to keep the shutter open longer, giving me some motion blurring. It wasn't real bad, mostly just at the end of the hammer when he was swinging it. But I didn't have an issue with it when I stood in more illuminated areas.

I've asked him. He say's nothing to amount to anything.
For one, they are trainers too, and know how to train that out bad behaviour.
And as a farrier, they just don't put up with it. They can handle and calm a nervy horse, and if they come across a horse that is just to screwed up; then they don't take the job.

Nice pics !

Flash is good, you can also up the ISO for a faster shutter.

Wish I had thought of the ISO.

I turned the flash off so as not to spook the horse, but he was so calm it didn't matter.
