Definitely more iconic Oldsmobiles back in the 60's and 70's. By the time the 80's rolled around, they just looked like Cutlasses.

Yes. I could see it on the horizon and knew it was traveling away from me so I raced toward it. I did a dumb thing when I got close. The very thing they say NOT to do, pulled over under a bridge.



You'll be shocked to know this is not true.

Never chased it, but an "old" guy (mid-40s) I worked with in the early '70s had one. He didn't buy it new, so was likely a '60s model.

We were working in Rochester (mold shop) and he lived in Illion NY, 150 or whatever miles away; he'd go home every weekend. He was a serious drinker and would usually hit every bar between Rochester and Illion.

One Monday he came to work and said: "I took it easy this time, I only hit the bars on the right side." He was an old-school diemaker, knew his shit, worked hard and drank hard. He died at 62.

Us young guys used to jerk his chain pretty hard, and re-named Illion "Gilligan's Island."

I was good friends with one of his sons. He was a professional bum, but a riot to hang around with.

What was this thread about -- thunderstorms or something . . . ?

Nice rear window slope, two doors, hide-away lights, big block, power everything. Batmobile belt line. It's gorgeous to me.
