'71 LR Caliper not releasing?
Hey guys.
After years of trouble-free operation, the LR caliper began sticking on my '71 to the point of visibly smoking after about 10 minutes of driving with normal braking and speeds under 35mph. Lucky it happened right here in town going to a show. I got 4 rebuilt stock calipers from Zips, and Wagner pads. I also got new rear rotors since I figured the intense heat on the LR had probably warped that rotor. Removal, install, bleeding and runout was uneventful. Here's the rub. The new LR caliper is sticking just like the original was. The other 3 new calipers are operating normally, just like before. What am I missing here? |

Check to see if the flex line for the caliper collapsed? Honestly its been seven years since I worked on my brakes and can't even remember if that side has a separate flex line but its a good place to start.
