So, um, now what...
Was out tinkering in the garage, got in the car, started it, let it idle for a while, then shut it down. Went to get out, door won't open. Outer handle won't open it either. Had to drag my old fat ass out the window.
FML. Any idea what it could be? How to I get the door open? |

Had a similar problem many years ago on my 71. Mine started from the outside on the drivers side. Went to open the door and no release from the handle. Solved the problem by buying a spring(?) from Zip and installing it under the handle. Solved the problem and to this day it still works. Don't know if Zip still sells this, but you can check on their web site. Have a good Holiday.
Gene Jim, if I recall correctly, the spring cut the devil out of my thumb. Last edited by 71corv; 12-21-2012 at 8:17pm. Reason: add comment |

It was the latch mounting screws. One of them had loosened up allowing it to shift a bit.

Just keep a picture of the cowgirl in your avatar inside on the wall of the garage. You will get in better shape crawling in and out of the car, the kids will think it's cool, you being Luke Duke and all, and the old lady may conjure up some new positions for Mr.Gumby! It's a win/win situation.
