I would think that if you are willing to reshape your junk, then you've got some wires crossed. I mean born that way. Although not normal to you and I, it is normal to them. Imagine waking up tomorrow and someone turned you in a chick, you'd probably go through hell and high-water to be a dude again. I guess that's what it's like for them.
I can't really fault them for that, but wanting society to accept them for now being a different gender is a bit much to expect. They really aren't a different gender; no matter how much they rearrange the parts. It's those damned pesky chromosomes. Yeah, it's not fair. Life is like that.

Interesting question, but at this point it's more philosophical than tangible. I would say yes the chromosomes matter more, after all it's the empirical evidence of gender, even more definitive than exterior indicators. I would say that believing you are a woman, when you are clearly and genetically a man, is a mental illness. Your brain has a major problem with reality.
