Default Oklahoma earthquake

We actually felt it here in Joplin, epicenter sounds like it was just over 200 miles west of us. 5.6 magnitude. I was laying in bed, wife was wrangling cats out on the patio, and I thought one of them was trapped in my closet (it has sliding doors) because the doors were rattling. My wife said it felt like the ground dropped and there was a loud noise that seemed to come from our roof although I didn't hear it inside the house. Strange. Anybody closer?

Said some have felt it as far away as Houston. People are reporting feeling it hear in DFW. DFW airport is checking the runway for damaging the runway, delaying a few flights.

I was sitting here eating breakfast. Did not feel it but remember hearing the house creak around that time.

I was reading the article describing where it was. I was like "Nope, don't know that town. Nope don't know that town. Nope. Nope. Must be in bumfuq." And it was. Pretty much for me anyplace in Oklahoma is relative to how far away it is from Tulsa and/or OKC.

I am in Illinois just across the river from St Louis. Was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper when I heard a noise in the kitchen. Didn't feel anything but happened to look down at a glass of water sitting on the end table. I could see the water moving in the glass for about 15 or 20 seconds.

It reminded me of being in a restaurant in Chicago that was on the 70 something floor of the Sears Tower. Watching wine moving around in the glass due to the building swaying in the wind. You couldn't feel it but it was happening

I blame fracking for this....because there were no earthquakes before those evil oil drillers tried to make our country energy independent.

They said it occurred roughly 4 miles below ground. Pretty sure that's because of fracking. What else but fracking goes 4 miles below ground. Well, OK fracking only technically goes a couple thousand feet below ground, but that's like 4 miles if you think about it.

Edit: Make that 4.5 km. Still pretty close to a couple thousand feet +/- 4.5 km.

It was fairly strong in the Wichita area, which is about 120 miles away.

That earthquake was pretty strong. Quite a bit more movement than our normal daily earthquakes. We had some stuff fall off shelves and got some cracks in the ceiling.

Tornadoes, floods, fire, earthquakes, quicksand, heavy snows, dust storms, deadly spiders and snakes, temperature extremes, we have them all in Oklahoma.
