Who Is "Scam Likely," and Why Are They Calling Your Phone?

If you've received a call from someone your caller ID identifies as "Scam Likely," you're probably using T-Mobile or MetroPCS.

There are other ways to turn on the T-Mobile scam call blocker. According to T-Mobile, you can dial #662# from your T-Mobile phone or sign in to your account on the My T-Mobile website and turn on Scam Block from there.

After getting 5 'scam likely' calls all this morning, I was ticked off enough to try and find a solution. I did try this, and got a screen about blocked "scam likely" calls, so we'll see if it actually works.

I had to buy a specific landline home phone set to stop the spam calls on that, I hope this easy suggested solution works on the cell.

I downloaded the "Call Blocker" app on my phone, working well so far to block repeated spam calls.

On IPHONE you can set the phone to dump any call from a number not on your contacts list directly into voicemail.

Does your call log still record the scam number and time?

That's close to the set up on my home phone set. If I haven't added you as a contact on the phone, the recording asks the caller to identify, then press pound to make the call go through. A robodialer can't do that. The only small issue is, if I'm on the phone, you can hear a call waiting beep, even if it's from a scammer.

Shower thought: You'd think the phone companies themselves would want to stop the spam robocalls, not only to stop pissing off their customers, but also to reduce traffic on their networks. They say at least half the calls in the US are spam/scammers, most from overseas. How much could telecoms save on equipment if the call volume was reduced by half? That's got to be worth something.

Those calls aren't made for free. Someone is making money.

I can do lots of stuff with blocks. Both temporary and longer. Waiting for area code block, and then open specific numbers. I've had my phone a long time and I get most from number prefix where I haven't lived forever.

I have my landline turned off. I have it only for the alarm system, because it's free with fiber.

So how much does Verizon make for a called placed on their network from a non-customer? These are all leased lines from providers who just give access. The customers lease the lines, the providers pay Verizon for access.

When calls were priced by the call, none of this crap was going on as that is unaffordable for a telemarketing business other than Miss Cleo. Once it became a commodity, it was ever present.

For the past few months, I've been getting between 3 and 7 calls every day, from different 800 numbers, which have all been blocked, from the same caller. They leave a voicemail that is 53 seconds in length. The message does say to press 2 to speak to an agent, or press 9 to unsubscribe.

Today, I answered. Did I get a live person? Nope. Reckon I'll get twice as many calls now.

****ing spammers!!!

Update: I think it's working. ZERO scam calls since using the #662# feature.

[fingers crossed]
