Default [Healthcare Repeal] ~ GOP Useless Idiots ?

What happened to all the beat-on-the-chest GOP Bravado ?

House Health Care Repeal Vote Moves Forward

House Health Care Repeal Vote Moves Forward

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans took another step Friday toward a repeal of last year's sweeping health care overhaul, as the lower chamber approved a key rule allowing a repeal bill to proceed to a vote.

Friday's procedural vote, largely along party lines, set the stage for a symbolic showdown over the signature Democratic law of the last Congress, under which parents can keep children on their health plans until the age of 26, insurers are barred from denying service due to preexisting conditions, Medicaid funding is dramatically expanded and some 30 million uninsured Americans are projected to receive coverage by 2019.

The final vote is slated for next Wednesday, following a day of debate.

The procedural vote's final tally was 236 to 181, with two voting "present": Republicans Pete Sessions of Texas and Mike Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, who missed the congressional swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.

The repeal bill will almost certainly pass the House next week, but it has nowhere to go from there. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) controls the floor schedule of the upper chamber, and if he doesn't bring a bill to the floor, it can't become law.

Asked on Thursday if he planned to bring the repeal bill to the floor, Reid said flatly, "No."

Republicans have other ways to constrain the implementation of the health care law, however.

Some have threatened to send spending bills to the Senate that defund the reform implementation, setting up a staring contest that could lead to a government shutdown.

Reid said that his party would consider changes to the health care law, but that repeal isn't a serious possibility.

"We're willing to work in any way that's constructive in nature to improve the health care delivery system for our country.
But repealing health care?

They should get a new -- new lease on life and talk about something else," he said.

R8RBOB: Why do the Republican-controlled House bring up useless votes that

Why do the Republican*-controlle*d House bring up useless votes that will lead to nowhere ?
In 1998, the Republican*-controlle*d House led by Newt Gingrich voted to impeach Bill Clinton knowing that he would not be convicted by the Senate yet they wasted time and millions of dollars for nothing.

Now the Republican*-controlle*d House led by John Boehner is going to vote to repeal Obamacare knowing that it will go nowhere.

I ask why bother with issues that will travel along that bridge to nowhere somewhere in Alaska ?”

'' Why do the Republican**-controll*e*d House bring up useless votes that will lead to nowhere''

Lib Girl ~ I know that may have been a rhetorical question, but here's a literal answer.
They have not a clue as to how to create jobs and have no intention of doing so.
They think they will ride the tea party wave of 2010 into the WH in 2012.

Don't believe it's gonna happen.
Thy*e're already tring to run out the clock by doing stupid stunts ...

There is no likelihood any provision of the Affordable Care Act will be repealed.
Republicans simply don't have the numbers.
The Senate will block any repeal.

Even if 13 Democratic Senators somehow do vote for a repeal, it would not get the President's signature and there is no chance for a supermajority in either house of Congress.

It's a good thing the morons are going to read the Constitution because they may finally realize their goals are impractical.

Though, the more they try to pass these types of bills will only help us in 2012.

Hey Bohner .. how come the word *Kill* has been removed from the (R) Kill Bill ?

Thanking them for the efforts we voted them in to fight for, yet knowing full well the big.gov control freaks still wielding the hammer will dismiss it.

In a couple years, the smart ones will step in and clean up this unwanted mess.

The repeal bill is symbolic only, window dressing for the folks, just a message, nothing more,......

I hope they have the balls to defund all that liberal/commie crap from the next appropriations bills....

agencies without money....EPA, Dept Health, Welfare, the list is SO long, even the collective congress is unaware of how many agencies to cut, for they simply have NO clue how many agencies EXIST in the first place.....

for instance, and this is so simply classic it's ass tounding.....

did you all know that back in the CW daze, Lincoln established a guard force of maybe a dozen men to guard a certain bridge on the NW corner of DC, just over the line in Maryland, it was not going over the Potomac river, but over a sizeable creek flowing into the Potomac, and so was an impediment to any army going to invade the Capitol ....did you all know that those guards were reappointed up until the last one died off sometime during the NIXON administration?? and they finally got around to folding that FEDERAL AGENCY into the Fed Protective Service?? they guard .gov civilian buildings.....the bridge is not guarded today....yeh, no shit.....

BTW, the powerful elite scream over that bridge at breakneck speeds in high powered cars every DC work day.....even the cops know to stay clear unless a wreck....no speeding tickets or the cop is fired....seriously and to this day.....

As many 129 million Americans at risk of being rejected for insurance coverage or having to pay more, government study finds.

Up to half in U.S. have pre-existing conditions - Health - Health care - msnbc.com

WASHINGTON — As many as 129 million Americans under age 65 have medical problems putting them at risk of being rejected by insurance companies or having to pay more for coverage, according to a U.S. government study reported by the Washington Post on Tuesday.

The Department of Health and Human Services is scheduled to release the study on Tuesday, the Post said, the same day the House of Representatives is expected to begin considering a Republican bill to repeal President Barack Obama's healthcare overall.

Health highlights fda.gov Online diet pills often contain dangerous ingredients
More and more, weight loss products are being "adulterated" with potentially dangerous ingredients by their manufacturers.

The report is part of the Obama administration's effort to convince the public of the advantages of the law, which contains insurance protections for people with pre-existing medical conditions.

"Americans living with pre-existing conditions are being freed from discrimination in order to get the health coverage they need," HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement to be released Tuesday, the Post reported.

The study found that one-fifth to one-half of non-elderly people in the United States have conditions that trigger rejection or higher prices in the individual insurance market, the Post said.
They range from cancer to chronic illnesses such as heart disease, asthma and high blood pressure.

A Republican House aide, speaking on condition of anonymity because the report was not yet public, told the Post: "When a new analysis is released on the eve of a vote in Congress, it's hard to view it as anything but politics and public relations."

The repeal vote would fulfil a campaign promise of Republicans who won control of the House in November elections.

But the measure will likely die in the Senate, where Democrats held on to their majority.

I've got a simple template for the GOP to repeal ObamaCare.

"The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed."

Just remove "eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States", and insert "entire text of the law commonly known as ObamaCare".

Medical care is expensive. Not every American can afford all the treatment options out there. (It) sucks, but then, life isn't fair.

It also isn't fair to force insurers to accept guaranteed money losing policyholders, or to force medical practitioners to treat people that can't or won't pay.

This is one case of two wrongs don't make a right.

What happen to all that Tea Party excitement about taking over Government?

Don’t have to actually govern to do that?

Or are they waiting for the President to play his cards so all they have to do is repeal, deny and bitch like little girls?

Ask the GOP to unzip their fly, reach in and see if they come out with anything other than air!

Actually, what I quoted was in response to the Volstead Act.

It (the 21st Amendment) was merely an example of how a bad law can be done away with.

All the House has to do is NOT vote to raise the Debt Ceiling, and the rest will be automatic. Hard choices will be forced on the President, Congress, and the people. We will actually find out what government can afford to do, rather than just accept everything it does. We will see if the Tea Party has the votes and the cojones to actually do that.

????

Is this an Al Capone reference? Numbers running is bad because criminals profit from it, yet when government does it in the form of a lottery, all of the sudden it becomes moral and just?

Insurance companies collect premiums from willing buyers they deem to be an acceptable risk, and pay claims=bad, but if government forces insurance companies to accept policyholders with pre-existing conditions, that is good?

Why shouldn't I force the Texas lottery to sell me the winning lottery ticket? I mean, sure, they would know up front they are going to lose on my $ 1 purchase, but it seems fair to me, because I have a right to win.

If they don't refuse to raise the debt ceiling, then they will prove that old adage, party above country.

OK, so they pull the plug on deficit spending and the country goes through well deserved pain as the debt party ends. Great. So they don't get reelected. So what? They would have done the right thing.

That should garner reelection votes, but everyone who got their cheese cut would probably vote for the other guy who promises to restore their cheese.

If US deficit spending is the only thing keeping the global economy from collapsing, then the global economy deserves to collapse. Think of it like keeping a brain dead patient alive with machines. Would you pull the plug, or keep wasting money on a lost cause?

As to Palin, I don't care for her and doubt she would get elected, but even if she did, so what?

If this country was on a pay as you go basis, she (or whoever got elected) really couldn't do much as far as agenda goes.

Foreign wars? Nope, no money.

More welfare, grants, etc.? Nope, no money.

Subsidizing ethanol and solar power? Nope, no money.

Foreign aid (foreign welfare)? Nope, no money.

Dreaming up new thousand page laws? Nope, no money to implement them.

I think you get the idea.
