Lose the public aid? Drug screening?
Not a bad idea, but while we're at it, how about some meaningful activity to be be REQUIRED of these people? 8 hours a day / M-F. Public schools - Cafeteria, Cleaning, Snow removal, etc. Public buildings - Same as above. Public sidewalks - Sweeping Public roads - Trash pickup Etc., etc., etc. Plenty of things to benefit the public can be done by those who choose to benefit from the public are there to be done. Can't physically do it? TRULY? There's always phone work. REFUSE to participate? OK, here's your last check, there's the door... C ya. |

Oh, this thread AGAIN?
It's easy to look at only the gap in income between two levels, or to look at the growth in income for particular income levels in dollar terms. What happens when you look at percentage chance? Oh. No matter the health of the economy, level of taxation, state of technology, level of outsourcing, or base of economic production, at ALL income levels changes in income over time are basically the same. Income inequality is NOT a problem in and of itself. It is a SYMPTOM of a problem - an economy based solely on Wall-Street and the Federal Reserve, and an economy that is in a Depression. The symptom becomes magnified and bemoaned when we are in a pit like this. We saw it before leading up to and during the Great Depression. As those problems subsided, income inequality subsided. It will do so again when we see a REAL economic recovery on "Main Street" and competent economic policy. During economic expansions like the Reaganomics Expansions of the 1980s and 1990s, no one cares because the reality is that income inequality is NOT a problem and NOT something that matters. What matters is how well-off low income and middle income individuals and families actually are, not how well of they are in comparison to someone else. When the economy sucks and they are not actually well of, then greed and envy set in and leftists can easily manipulate the masses and play on their suffering by pointing to a convenient scapegoat, the guy who is economically well off. Family A: A family in Maine with household income of $10,000 and living in reliance on Section 8 and Food Stamps who happen to be surrounded by families making $50,000 on average. Family B: A self-sufficient family in Georgia with household income of $75,000 who live around families with income of $1,000,000 on average. Family B "suffers" from FAR greater income inequality than Family A. Doesn't matter, they are better off than Family A. |

I agree, I'm just saying that people in those ranges have to give a share too. It's the hood rats that don't.
