i used to like alabama, when they sucked...but when they bought a coach and started winning, suddenly there was a blossoming of fan boy band wagon tide fans that walked around all the time saying roll tide..or..actually "OLL TIIIIEEE" is more accurate. Whats sad is...if bama went 7-5 next year...and 6-6 the next year...Facebook would be utterly silent when Bama played, unlike a true fan, who is always there pulling for their team, through thick and thin.

This rant is not directed at the life long bama fans.

I really have to disagree with you. Bama could go 0-12 next year, but Bama fans would still be Bama fans. They might be pissed Bama fans, but nevertheless they would stick with their team. Hell, I like VT having grown up there and my wife is alum and my Grandfather was a professor there, but they (if in the SEC) would be a doormat. My alum VA couldn't beat a pack of blind nuns so I don't even bother watching them. I guess what I'm trying to say is SEC football is almost a cult here. Having been in GA for nearly half my life now, I get it. It's all we give a shit about during college season. If Auburn was burning to the ground, I would laugh and go about my day. If they were playing for the BCS championship, you can bet I would want them to win. We all have our teams, but when it comes to the conference itself, we generally stick together like crazy glue. I don't expect everyone from all over to get what I just said, but I think there will be a few here that will agree.

If your team blows, support the conference in bowl games.

It really isn't a tough concept. I'm the same way about the Big 8/10 whatever their number is. I'm an OSU Cowboy fan (went there for a spell), but I'll pull for OU when they're playing anybody other than OSU. I'll pull for any teams in that division when they're playing.

Last time we saw Oregon in SEC action LSU put up 40 on them last season. The same LSU team that put up NINE points against Alabama later that regular season and ZERO on Alabama in the championship game later that year.
