Default {Religion} Why can't people accept...

More and more these days I find myself wanting to kick somebody in the head as they spout off a bunch of intolerant bullshit about anybody and everybody who has different beliefs than them.

Not long ago, it seemed like there were some small groups of non-mainstream religious folks who would be in your face preaching, but it was usually a pretty rare happening.

Now, the number is growing exponentially. The biggest increase of self-righteous assholes who feel the need to judge everybody seems to be coming from atheists, which is something I didn't expect. As somebody who is not myself religious, I think this actually annoys me even more than the religious extremists. Who the hell cares if a church makes a football team a big meal before every game? How does it possibly hurt you if there is a piece of metal in the shape of a cross in the WTC memorial? How does it possibly offend you if a High School graduation is held in a church because it is the largest building in the town? On the opposite note, why do Christians always feel the need to "pray for my salvation"? Say as many prayers as you want... it isn't going to change my beliefs. Guess what? That doesn't make me a bad person.

Why the hell is it so hard for people to just accept that people might have different beliefs than they do? It doesn't bother me in the least if someone is a devout Catholic, Jew, Hindu, or whatever else the case might be as long as their beliefs do not condone violence.

Here's an idea. Believe whatever it is you believe. Embrace your beliefs. Believe that God exists, that Jesus is his son. Believe in the Buddha or Mohammad. Believe there is no God at all. Your choice. Follow the guidance of whatever religion you choose to follow but step off of the delusionally self righteous high horse and just accept that some people might not agree with you.

Remember, no matter what you believe, over 2/3 of the World thinks you are RONG.

Rant over.

Because I'm a smartass on the internet? Almost every day of my life is fun. Anybody who doesn't say the same thing is doing it wrong and missing out. I've been lucky enough to have many experiences over the course of 31 years that I never dreamed possible.

It is extremely rare that I am actually pissed off. It takes a lot more than people on the internet to make it happen. As for the original comment, yes, it was an honest one. A person's religion does not matter even a tiny little bit to me.

Yet you will mount a full on attack against Coool for his lack of religious beliefs.

Your position does not ring true, and your posting history doesn't bear out your opinions here.

It has nothing to do with Phil's lack of religious beliefs. It is Phil's attacking of religion, Christianity specifically, ad nauseum.

100% wrong.

I NEVER attacked his "lack of religious beliefs" not 1 little bit. Hell, from what I can tell, mine are pretty much the same (minus the insane hatred that he has towards those who ARE religious). I have said in this thread as well as in previous ones that I am myself not religious. Seems a little odd that I would turn around and attack him for the same thing, don't ya think?

What I have commented on is HIS continuous attacks and flat out disgusting intolerance of Christians and Jews.

Feel free to go back and refresh your memory if you think otherwise.

Maybe it's the strong liberal hate you speak that he's getting confused with.

You are correct. I do despise anybody who rewards failure, punishes success, villainizes hard work and those who are responsible, cheers laziness and bad decisions, censors the free speech of citizens, and for some reason delusionally feels that their societal views are so superior to the rest of humanity that they should be able to decide what is best for me and dictate how the rest of us conduct our lives.

So what would happen if you fell in love with a liberal woman?
Do you discard her?

Just curious.

Does the conversation go:

"Hi, I'm RedLS1GTO. Are you a liberal"

Depends. Discard someone based on the word "liberal"? Absolutely not. With that said, I don't think I am going to find much common ground with someone who thinks my guns are evil, wants me to trade my big diesel truck for a Prius, values handouts over hard work, and can't balance a checkbook.

On the same note, it is equally doubtful that I would find common ground with a right wing religious Conservative who couldn't accept my beliefs as they are, so it goes both ways just the same.

It is not the differing views that bothers me. Everybody is entitled to believe whatever they want to believe. It is the forcing them on me that I have a problem with.

I hear what you're saying.
I guess my issue is when people are categorized by their religious or political beliefs.
You have extremists from all beliefs and political views.

I know people who are liberals(maybe Canadians are different types) and they drive Hummers and work 20 hours a day.

Like I've said before I couldn't care less and it's not the way I judge people.

Here is my position on all this-

I get up for work every day. I pay my bill's, go to church, take care of my responsibilities, keep my yard/house/vehicles in good repair, and expect NOTHING from anyone. I've made my own way since I was 17 years old. I wasn't all gravy, I had several tough years. But during that time I never asked for so much as a nickle from anyone.

I also support the 2nd amendment wholeheartedly.

I believe in Freedom of Speech.

I believe in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I believe in legal immigration.

I also despise rich people who pay less taxes than the rest of us.

I question the need for assault rifles in the hands of the general public.

Conceal and carry permits make me nervous.

I loath CEO's and corporations that move job's overseas because it's a "Business decision."

I also hate politicians who cut social programs in an effort to balance the budget.

I believe welfare should exist, although not in it's current form.

I do not believe in prayer in school.

I support capital punishment.

I am pro-choice.

I think Mitt Romney is a piece of shit and will not get my vote.

I think President Obama has done a HORRIBLE job with the country and will not get my vote.

If I catch you abusing an animal or child, I will cave your fucking head in with whatever is handy and suffer the consequences like an adult.

I hate mandatory helmet laws.

Peace.

I agree with all the above.
I also despise rich people who pay less taxes than the rest of us.
Don't despise them for taking advantage of the tax laws. Despise the people that make those laws.
I question the need for assault rifles in the hands of the general public.
I question the need in the hands of criminals, not law abiding citizens.
Conceal and carry permits make me nervous.
Not me, law abiding citizens get those, criminals don't bother.
I loath CEO's and corporations that move job's overseas because it's a "Business decision."
Again, don't loath them, loathe the ones making that legal and the best choice the CEO has for his business to be successful.
I also hate politicians who cut social programs in an effort to balance the budget.
There are a lot of programs across the board that could be cut to balance the budget.
I believe welfare should exist, although not in it's current form.
I agree but the other form I might not agree with.
I do not believe in prayer in school.
I think it's even more important than ever before considering all the violence in schools.
I support capital punishment.

I am pro-choice.
Whose choice? Why is a father that doesn't want anything to do with the child, a dead beat dad, but a mother is pro choice?
I think Mitt Romney is a piece of shit and will not get my vote.
I'm no fan either but he is better than Obama and who else do we have that actually could win?
I think President Obama has done a HORRIBLE job with the country and will not get my vote.
No argument.
If I catch you abusing an animal or child, I will cave your fucking head in with whatever is handy and suffer the consequences like an adult.

I hate mandatory helmet laws.
We don't have those here.
Peace.

Why would you hate a company that moves overseas other then the obvious of Americans losing jobs?

If I have a company whose bottom line could improve by x% by moving it out of the country it's a wise business move.
Otherwise my company may not be around much longer.

You should hate the unions that force the companies to move overseas, they are the root of the issue.
