I am in no way stating that a single parent is a bad thing. Lots of people have been raised in a wonderful, loving, single parent family.

But, two parents is an easier situation to work with, straight or gay. Provided that they are also loving.

Bad parents can come in all forms.

Great parents can come in all forms a well.

But it's "easier" if there are two parents to raise the kids.

Sorry if I offended good single parenting in any way.

I agree...and as a single parent, i'm certainly not offended. My kids are grown now and work hard, pay their taxes and go to school...in my opinion they are a perfect example of good kids, raised by a single parent...we all wish it could have been different, but it is what is and they are OK!!

They say smoking is hard to quit once you get started, so probably best you not to try it.

Start of the best argument in this thread...it does not matter if the parent's are straight, gay, black, white, single, handicapped, or what ever. The type of relationship has nothing to do with it, it is how the child is actually raised. It is also the OVERALL environment that we are raised in, which includes outside influences from our parents, and the choices that we make.

Look at the number of siblings that grew up in the same house, with the same families, and they are polar oposites. I don't think it really matters what kind of household that children grow up in, as long as it is one that truely loves and cares about them.

It befuddles me to think that anyone thinks they have the right to revoke others' right to be happy.

Well, lot of great insight here and debate. Good to see people agreeing to disagree etc and to inject personal life experiences in doing so too.

The .gov should get out of who can and cannot get married. Are there gay "churches"? If so, then if the gay church religion allows them to get married, the .gov should see it the same way as hetero marriages. That said, I consider homosexuality to be a sin, just as I consider many things to be a sin. Adultery for example. If the .gov is OK with someone committing adultery, then it should be OK with gay people being married. Maybe if Bill Clinton had smoked pole instead of getting his pole smoked, the .gov wouldn't be making a big deal out of it.

So is it a fear that the kids will become gay? Because I don't see a problem with gay males or females raising a kid. I think most people views of a gay male is they think he would be overly feminem and go to the extreme of cross dressing, and visa versa for females. But that isn't the case in a lot of the gay community. Found out a buddy of mine, he has a huge lifted truck, wears camo and is a good ole boy, dips and drinks his natty ice. Would never guessed he favored the males untill he introduced me to his boy friend. Lesson here don't stereotype the gay community because they live just as many of us do, only difference is the sex of who they go home to at night.
