Default Cooler weather traction

This morning leaving work around 9AM it was 65 degrees, sunny and dry. I was waiting for a break in traffic and got a hole and came down a little to get into the flow of traffic. First gear lost traction so I backed off the gas, went to second and lost traction again. A few months ago I installed a Magnacharger TVS 1900 (570RWHP/545RWTQ) and upgraded my tires to PS2 (345 rears). I have about 2K miles on the PS2's now.

Obviously I need to take it easy taken off. I am wondering if I need to change my tires when I wear out the PS2's or is this just a matter of to much power for tires to handle on the cooler roads.

A couple of weeks ago I spun out on Langley Speedway, it was 70 degrees at the time.

I am wondering how hard it is going to be getting traction when it gets cold.

Might want to think about a softer compound tire. Nitto Invos are a pretty good bet.
But, then again, as it gets colder your traction is going to go to hell. Summer tires REALLY hate cold weather. Even though the vette loves that cold air rushing in.

I thought the softer tires lost traction quicker in the cool weather. I didn't expect to have traction issues at 65 or 70 degrees. Maybe I need to do a burnout before leaving the parking lot, that should heat them up a little.

You should always do that anyway! Regardless of the temp!

345s are pretty wide tires but if you don't have a wide enough rim they are not getting a good plant. You can search the forums but I'll bet that you need something wider than an 11 inch rim to make 345s contact the road properly. Just my 2 cents.

My wheels are 12 inch wide, I don't know if I could get wider or not. Next year I want to try the NT05R to see if they grab better, sounds like they are the way to go. Winter months I need to behave until the roads and tires warm up.

For what you want, the NT05R drag radials will definitely grab better than PS2s
Just remember they are not good at all in wet conditions though.

Depending on how you use the car, the best solution really is to keep 2 sets of wheels/tires. One setup for good wear and all-weather daily driving, the other set for those max performance days.

My 19/20" street setup is kinda like driving on ice skates, but I have a set of DRs on my 18" stock wheels now which eliminate that problem.

Wider isn't the solution for acceleration traction anyways. Maximizing contact patch relative to direction of travel is.
Wider is for better cornering.
Elongating contact patch is what's better for accelerating. That generally means using a softer tire with more sidewall (and of course a sticky but fast-wearing rubber compound) which is exactly what a drag radial delivers.

There are 7 second drag cars running on 9" wide tires. There's no reason yours can't hook up with 13" wide tires, you just need the one that suits your exact needs. No one tire can do it all. For fair weather street performance, the NT05R is a very good choice for you, since it's offered in the 345/30/19 size.

That is my plan, set of wheels/PS2's for daily driving and another set with NT05R for fun day. I don't normally drive in the rain, I have a pickup for such harsh conditions.

I need to pay off some bills before I blow up my A6 and or diff, the NT05R will have to wait a few more months. I am surprised the A6 or diff hasn't given up yet, they should be safe until spring now with the cooler weather, I can't abuse them as bad now.
