Default Remington 870

Back when I was a teenager(Before most of you were born) I had an 870 that when you held the trigger back and pumped it it would keep firing each time it was pumped......Do the new ones still do this......?

Hmmm... I never tried it, but I will now... Well, not exactly now.
Mine is 20 years old, so I don't know.

I have my grandfather's 16 gauge from the early 60s. I'll check it tomorrow but pretty sure it has a disconnect.

My Ithaca Model 37 does not and neither does my Winchester Model 61 .22 pump ( made in 1932 )

No, the new ones do not do this. You gotta pull the trigger each time. It sucks for us lazy folk.

How old is your 37s?

I had one that was a '40ish it would. Then I had a '76 model and it wouldn't.

Mine is from 1969, but it is a former Police Department shotgun that has been taken out of service, so maybe that is the reason it slam fires.

And good to know for us old farts who haven't shot one in half a century I figured they all did that.

Yes I own a very old one that is virtually new I've shot it once. It has a fancy stock and I bought it in 1979 sits in my safe. Then I used my police issued one for 25 years and my last 5 years I used an AR 15. The pump shotgun is fun to use and the jacking of the action is impressive when your pointing it at someone.

I don't know if holding the trigger back while pumping it will cause it to continuously fire because Ive never tried it.

I never knew anything other than the 1897 Winchester could slam fire. Interesting.

a long time ago I shot a friends pump .22, don't remember the brand but it was ancient back then (around 1976) and it would shoot by holding the trigger back and pumping the action until the tube ran out of ammo

I had both a 60s era Ithaca 16 gauge and a mid 70s vintage 12 gauge and they both would fire if you held the trigger back and pumped away.

I believe most pumps now will not do that.
