Buyer beware.
Buying a used rental is like going to a whorehouse looking for a wife. Anything driven that long and hard, you don't want to stick your key into. Jeff Foxworthy |

But keep justifying. It's only 5%. And then another 1, then another... No biggie. It's fairly amusing that you have such a big problem with things being misleading, but when it comes to Tesla your answer is always "close enough". My favorite Tesla spin is still your argument that if you buy the $16,000 battery pack that you can't buy, to take up all 1/3 of the cargo room that you have, and add another 700 pounds to your "truck" that already weighs as much as a big diesel dually, which will inevitably take away from the acceleration that you use to justify everything... if you do all of that, you can get "pretty close" to what Elon originally promised. I guess by that standard, taking 5% off of the range that you don't actually get anyway really isn't that bad. |

When the Cybertruck was announced, no specs were guaranteed as all they had was a concept truck at that point. That was not a "For Sale" listing, just a plan. Very often, specs can change on cars not yet in production. |

A friend and coworker of mine has had 2 batteries replaced on his Model S in less than 4 years (along with a bunch of other shit that has broken). 1 "I know a guy" data point is worthless. What's your point? By "concept" you of course mean Elon making shit up that he can't actually come close to delivering. |

I'd love to hear opinions on MPG on any given gas engine car when the sticker at sea level shows the same mpg as a car in Denver at 5000'

not really a mpg improvement but a perceived one. Drive exactly 100 miles with new tires.
Then drive the exact same 100 miles with completely bald tires and your miles travelled on your odometer will show like 102 miles. Now, if you used 5 gallons for the trip with new tires, the consumption calculates to 20 mpg. Now, if you use the odometers 102 miles with worn tires (instead of the actual 100 miles), you get 20.4 mpg. You used 5 gallons on both trips but your perceived mpg went up because the car thinks that you travelled 102 instead of 100 miles due to the worn tires. Odometers usually display the distance travelled based on tire rotations. A tire rotation with bald tires is slightly less distance than a new tire. |

As the tire wears down, they weigh less, so less weight = better mileage, assuming it's not worn down to slicks, where more surface area of the tire is contacting the road. Probably not appreciable difference, but certainly theoretical.

I haven't owned a garage queen for many, many years, Corvette or other. I decided long ago that I don't buy cars to maintain for the next owner. YMMV.
