I'm putting this trip together at the last minute. I just read up on eclipse glasses. Trying to source a pair of #13's online.

I have glasses and certified eclipse film to use for lens filters. Just came today a few minutes before I saw this. You can still get the cheap cardboard glasses which will do the trick. Just be sure to get something ISO certified.

Here in the Dallas area, I've heard you can get them at various places like Lowes/Home Depot but don't know.

Hey, If I can make it 7 more years, the Dallas area will be in the totality of the next one.

Missed the ninja edit. I'll have a good drive as well but not that far. Have a buddy who hooked us up with rooms and will be driving part of the way.

I'm on the 2min 30 sec line. If I was right on the line I would see another 10 seconds of totality.

Are you in the 80% or the 70% coverage area? IIRC you're in the northern part of the state, so maybe closer to 80?

Getting ready... first try with a 200mm lens on a Canon 7d crop sensor. You can actually see a bit of a sun spot.

This is going to be way harder than I though.

My wife and I are going up to my dad's place Monday to see it. He's getting about 2:30 of total darkness. The last one I remember seeing was when I was about 9 years old in central Illinois. A bunch of my dad's wife's relatives are staying at their house so we're staying a friend's place on Lake of the Ozarks, which is bitchin' and we'll get to go out on their new boat Sunday as a bonus. Wouldn't miss it for the world, you can not believe how cool it is!
