I agree, these were poorly prepared people at best, most with a flag as a weapon. Anything can be used to break a window. They were overwhelmed by a relatively small group. They had their asses handed to them.

i remember, many years ago, touring the Capitol, getting passes to the House and Senate chambers, so you could go sit in the visitor's gallery. and before going there, we had picked up some swag, including a little guidebook explaining the Capitol and what the critters do there. very interesting for a 12 year old.

so we take our seats, and sadly, the house was just doing nothing interesting, no grand debates, no great speeches, pretty much what you see on CSPAN now.

so i opened the guidebook, and not 10 seconds later, a nice policeman admonishes me that "there is no reading in the gallery". oh. sorry.

put the book away, go back to the boring proceedings, and we eventually left.

they still do this stuff to this day. more concerned with you reading in the gallery than they are with actually securing the complex. armed tour guides mostly.

and based on yesterday, very ill equipped to repel an assaulting force of more than 3.

For what it's worth, got this from a neighbor who was there....

For those of you that were not in DC today it was a beautiful day a lot of love...everyone started early 5 am by 7 am was seas of people all different Nationalities .. Family’s with children.. there was prayer, music speakers and the president... we all stood for 6 hours in the freezing cold.. no water food only if you could fit in your pocket.. no back packs no knives no poles.. secret service checked everyone , no lighters either.. we met and spoke to the greatest people all different but the same.. same beliefs but good loving salt of the earth people. After the President finished his speech we all walked over to the capital.. We were all ready were told of the busses of Antifa that unloaded and what to look for.. The mayor cut off everyone’s cell service Tuesday night and Wednesday no communication.... as we got close to the capital.. we were hearing that there was storming at the White House.. Antifa broke in smashed things and were dressed in trump gear but off gear.. there are pictures on line and I’m still hearing more people have died.. For those of you that aren’t educated on Antifa/Black lives matter.. they get their funding from the democratic-party..a Marxist group their job is to destroy and conquer.. that’s where this began.. millions of patriots were at the capital to support our President and stand up for our rites..this was a well planned set up,others for sure were pulled into it .. it’s a shame such a good thing had such evil doers. .. But the devil moves among us..God Bless those who lost their life today..

Joe Blow American, our friends, neighbors, family members etc, that aren't extremists and didn't participate in any of the riots/situations over the last 14 months who just want factual information from the media, honest politicians who aren't the way the wind blows hypocrites, fair elections, feel safe and just want to live their lives.

I don't know ANYONE, not 1 of my friends/family/coworkers/etc who are a mix of dems/repubs as a group, who is an extremist.

The sad thing is that a few thousand extremists getting out of control are what the media reports on and what that world sees, painting the many many millions of normal folks as extremists by tangential association.

Think deeply. This country hasnt seen true pain since Vietnam, and before that WW2. There has been a constant barrage by leftists to ***** down our once great society. It continues to this day, where they dont want you to say things like men/women. Cut me a break.

At any rate, we are now to a point where we are soft. People think words break bones. The media and the left have been pushing these narratives hard. In addition, the russia russia bullshit, etc that has gone on for the last four plus years. Real, hard working folks turned against each other due to this nonsense, a classic divide and conquer routine. The media, once again, complicit. Then comes the leftist lockdown bullshit over "covid 19", which we can argue all day, but these are the facts....death rate year over year went down. Suicide rate went up. Businesses which couldnt open due to leftist rules are getting decimated.

You have world players like Soros sticking their ****ing necks in our business, and the left embraces his bullshit, further hurting our society with these idiot District Attorneys who think releasing criminals and not prosecuting killers is the norm.

All this and more equals a certain segment of the population pissed off. Those are the hardcore folks. The silent majority too is pissed, but finding different ways to cope where possible, and controlling their temper. Frankly, perhaps we shouldnt be so nice.

So, who do I blame? Politicians, media, outside forces seeking to change our way of life and promote socialism, and radicals. Its a deadly mix that just might ruin life here as we know it. Be vigilant, Beware, but be smart.

My real concern is not who did this but how TF did they succeed? Balloons up all over the net, a summer of seething unrest virtually unchecked by the law, this assault was virtually guaranteed. I understand the only officer I have heard of discharging his weapon against a rioting mob; the only cop who really did the job in the face of overwhelming force is on paid administrative leave while an "investigation" takes place about whether deadly force was acceptable in a situation where the only sane response was whatever force was required to repel the mob.
No one out there seems willing to say "THIS ACTION WILL NOT HAPPEN" and mean it any more. The mobs know this and THAT is why it occurred.

Perhaps they'll decide to burn your house because of some Internet post you made, or sack your workplace because social media influencers say your boss is a gay basher, or bulldoze your church because you don't practice the one true faith?

Didn't say it was OK at all.
