When they filmed at the Mesquite Rodeo grounds my Dad took me out to meet the cast. He was the sales manager at the local CBS station and part of his job was to introduce 'stars' to customers.

He knew I really liked the show and was absolutely nuts over the car. I was heading out the door for school and said I was going to spend the day with him. We headed out in the car and he wouldn't tell me where we were going. Back in those times the rodeo grounds were in the middle of never-never land and I was convinced he had lost his mind.

As we pulled into the parking lot I saw a transporter with 4 Vettes onboard and one parked next to it. As I sat spellbound I saw a blonde guy walking thru the lot. Looking back at the cars it dawned on me that the dude looked like Milner. I looked back and sure enough it was Milner. I asked my Dad what was going on and he told me they were filming and he thought I might enjoy watching. Duh!

He introduced me to Milner/Maharis and the rest of the cast. When they finished filming Milner came over and asked my Dad how we drove home. (I learned later this was a setup). My Dad told him and Milner said that was a shame since he would have let me ride back to his hotel in the Vette. I know I looked like a sad begging puppy and my Dad finally said OK.

Every time I see or hear of Milner I remember that day. Very special day for a 16 y/o kid.

Route 66... Milner was the show IMO.

MaHaris had hepatitis; it's what caused him to leave the show.

He (MaHaris) was arrested in 1974 and charged with committing a sex act with a male hairdresser in the men's room of a gas station in Los Angeles. 46 years old at the time, Maharis was booked on a sex perversion charge and released on $500 bail. Six years earlier Maharis had been arrested by a vice squad officer for lewd conduct in the restroom of a Hollywood restaurant

This is going back a long way, but what I remember is the car was fawn/fawn with a 4 speed. The 62 is the Vette I always wanted, but ended up starting with a 63 ragtop, 66 coupe, 66 rt, 63 rt, 71 BB coupe, 72 coupe, 88 coupe, 91 coupe.

Still have the 72, 88, and 91. Never got over the ride in the 62.
