Families are already living on top of each other from unemployment and homelessness ...

So your right-wing post here is laughably-wacked at best ...
If families can't provide for families, the needn't have families.

There are many inequities in our world, but I have some dignity and I will provide for myself as long as I can crawl.

Once you ask others to provide, you best be willing to live by their rules, I choose to live by my own!

Cool ... simply vote by your conscience ... not by what some right-wing pundit says ... like here, making fun of unfortunates as victims of an upside-down economy ...

This is the deal folks.

I have done ok in my life. I'm not wealthy, I don't buy new cars,(mainly because it's a bad investment) I live in a house on ten acres I had to rehab. Cost 112K. Which is low for my area. Now worth 187K as of the last appraisel 2 years ago. Could have spent up to 200K but why?

I have a 97 Dodge ram I bought in 98 I still drive, I have a 99 STS that's cherry with 94K on it I DD. I sold my 90 C4 and bought a 99 FRC this past winter. wife drives an 04 Camry.

Like I said, I'm not wealthy but I take care of myself. My wife has a good job, I have a crappy job but have my retirement, so I'm fine. I have a few what I consider toys to take care of place like tractor ATV etc.

I have 1 brother left alive and 3 sisters. Some of them do ok and some do not by their own choice and laziness.

Sometimes I know they get aggravated at me and think I'm wealthy, but to them I may be.

But here's the deal. I will help anyone anytime when I can, IF THEY HELP THEMSELF FIRST. I can't help those who refuse to help themself because if I tried, all that would happen is we would all be poor and accomplish nothing. My parents didn't have a lot of money but I would consider them low middle class but they gave us everything they could. But their greatest gift to me was to teach me to care for myself and work hard, and give what you can when you can.

This is what has happened to this country. We are all becoming poor, except for the very wealthy. But if we tried to take theirs guess what? We would all become poor.

look at Greece and some of the other countries that have tried to provide for everyone. The countries that have reversed some of their socialism are beginning to thrive, like Canada, and Germany.

I sometimes wonder if this isn't more of a jealousy thing on the wealthy than it is trying to help others. I know there are injustices in the world, I know some of the wealthy are greedy little punks that need bitch slapped and stack the deck in their favor. I've had my run ins with more than one of them on CF. But at the end of the day they will be tits up like the rest of us and will live their life being dickwads. I choose not to. but that's their choice and I don't lose any sleep over dickwads.

Let your conscious be your guide.

Unfortunately as long as the government is taking care of everything for those in 'need'.

Many people who are able to help do not feel compelled to do so, as they're already paying taxes, which by definition is caring for those people.

When I beg for entitlement cuts, it's not that I want to see those people thrown in the streets, it's that I want the government out of the equation. There are plenty of private and privately funded non-profits that are capable of helping people who want to help themselves. The government has shown it's incapable of weeding out those who refuse to help themselves, non-profits and other groups will have a much greater interest in only helping those who are willing to help themselves.

For the scum bags only willing to work 1 week a month at minimum wage, well they can live in a cardboard box, and eat cat food until they become productive members of society.

Separate the two .. help only the needy ... not the greedy ... and that means all the greedy.

Exactly what’s the purpose of supporting people who don’t need our support?

It almost sounds like we agree, the Government needs to stop supporting those on entitlements who are unwilling to work hard enough to support themselves. Yes, there will always be those who are un-able, but they are few and far between, and I believe fairly identifiable by a properly run agency<group, non-profit ect>.

I feel as though the Government is not capable of properly running such a support group, and needs to get out of the way of those who can.

It also looks like you're elluding to 'supporting' the rich. Those greedy rich already pay major income taxes, property taxes, and sales taxes. Many are paying upwards of 40-50+% of their income, if they're a business owner, some are already paying nearly 70% of their income.

How much more do you really want to take from the uber rich? Sure, even with 70% taxes they make WAY more than you or I do, and ever will. But enough's enough. If the government can't make due with 70% how are they going to make better with 90%?

Loopholes that allow GE to pay 0 taxes are wrong, and have never been supported by the Tea Party, but those were loopholes put in place by the government to encourage certain behaviors, and a company followed those guidelines by the government. Don't blame the company, blame the government. You don't get rich by not to taking advantage of opportunities that have been given to you.

So every poor family uses $16K a year in medicare?

Some of the benifits are short term.

The numbers do not take into consideration housing cost.

A family of four making $30K a year qualifies for food stamps

I could go on, but whats the point. People will believe what suits their views.

Yeah they keep raising the bar for who qualifies for food stamps don't they?

Food stamps as a whole just pisses me off. If you're so poor that you need the government to pay for your food. You should be taking the government supplied bus card, to the local Food Bank, where you get your allotment of beans, rice, some greens, and a protein, that will last you the week. That's it. While on food stamps and similar entitlements, if you're caught with an alcoholic drink, cigarette, or other luxury item, you should be booted from the program.

It should be there for only those who truly need it, not continually abused by those who manage to qualify, or just get by on the least amount of work possible.

So if you're willing to agree with everything I just said, why is it you're so resistant to the concept of the Tea Party?

when I was a kid, and all six of us kids were still little, we ate from the garden and we canned up to 1000 quarts of food a summer. Hard ass work but not so much when you're hungry. And we ate beans, rice, whatever filled the belly.

I agree, they should go to the food bank to grocery shop.

This welfare mentality has got to stop.
