Default A gun proposal

So far, everything I have seen is aimed at law-abiding gun owners, while we all know that the criminals are more likely to actually commit crimes with guns.

What say we introduce legislation to allow law enforcement to search the persons and propertys of convicted felons (who aren't allowed to possess weapons anyway) without a warrant?

You want to violate my 2nd amendment rights, you have to violate the "unreasonable search" rights of known criminals first.

What say VBPR&C? Win/Win?

That doesn't start the backdoor confiscation process...so the left will have no interest in it.

This has nothing to do with saving lives...

They already have the right to do such searches if the person is on parole or probation. Local Sheriff's dept here does "Parole sweeps" here and usualy turns up some arrests, frequently for guns or drugs. I wouldn't have a problem with extending these rights for the police to search to most felons, especially violent ones.

That's interesting...is being a convicted violent, repeat offender, fellon h probable cause to warrant a search..? Seems to me...

But, I'd guess most thugs are dumocrats, so they will be protected from such indignities...

How about looking at the facts.
In 1995 the Maryland NAACP found that the Number one contributor to higher crime was WELFARE
The HHS and another study found, in the same time span, tat when you factor out race, religion, economic status and region the number one contributor to crime was single mother households.

If we are serious about protecting the children end welfare.

Gun control is not about guns, it's about controlling the population.

I read Fein-Nuts comments yesterday when she claimed the ban in '94 was proven to have saved lives..."with everything else equal". Well, everything else is never equal, the only constant is change.

The only ones that lap that crap up though are the left wing gun grabbers that are lying to the American population about their true intent. The only way they win is to deceive.

They don't give a shit about anything except taking away rights from others that they don't think they should have.

The report that she uses to "prove" that the '94 AWB worked goes on to state that there is no way to conclusively state that the AWB had a positive effect. At best the results were too small to measure.

Quoting from Wikipedia (to provide actual quotes)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studied the "assault weapon" ban and other gun control attempts, and found "insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence," noting "that insufficient evidence to determine effectiveness should not be interpreted as evidence of ineffectiveness." A 2004 critical review of research on firearms by a National Research Council panel also noted that academic studies of the assault weapon ban "did not reveal any clear impacts on gun violence" and noted "due to the fact that the relative rarity with which the banned guns were used in crime before the ban ... the maximum potential effect of the ban on gun violence outcomes would be very small...."

The fact that more people are beaten to death each year than killed by Rifles and shotguns combined is lost on her and the left.

All current bloviating aside, we need to ensure that whatever legislation they want to put through happens quickly so the current SCOTUS can rule on the constitutional challenges that will follow.

More people die each year in cars than by gun violence. I don't see anyone in the Administration trying to ban Prius' or Corvettes.
