The pecan tree on the corner of the house was cut down and the stump ground to chips. The bigger tree in the background was trimmed up by my request to open the view of the back bay.

That's my point. The tree in your photo was cut down completely. Waste of time to use a bucket truck on it.

The bucket was used primarily to trim up the bigger tree. But since it was already there, I guess they used it on both...

I just think it's cool that Zeek feels the need to justify his actions to Yadkin. Good that I'm not the only one.

They were taking the tree down in a controlled manner so nothing landed on the house, deck or bulkhead. I've never seen a residential tree trimmer fell a whole tree at the base.

No...not justifying....just trying to explain something obvious to a person who is oblivious....

Only when they have plenty of room ( and the guy in the bucket truck was working in the front of my house)

I have many times. Most times using a rope to control the fall, and swing it away from a building. Old school.

If you had a bucket truck parked next to the tree you wanted to take down, would you still use a rope?

Tree trimmers around my place climb the tree with rappelling ropes, tie the branch off, cut it and then lower to the ground. They do this whether trimming or taking the entire tree out.

They do the same thing here. It's easier, safer, and cleaner. And already cut up for hauling away.

That tree, the separate stumps leaning away from the house, defiantly. Probably safer than threading the bucket through branches as it appears was done in the picture. Then reassess once those are down.
