Oh sweety, if you are gonna hen pick, I appreciate that at least you reference the article so ALL that it says can be pointed out. Most mask failures are due the fact (non medical) people have about as much understanding on wearing masks as you do electrical repairs.

https://www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/NEJMp2006372

If you were as persistent about electrical repairs as you are about fighting masking, you would have an apprenticeship by now.

"More compelling is the possibility that wearing a mask may reduce the likelihood of transmission from asymptomatic and minimally symptomatic health care workers with Covid-19 to other providers and patients. This concern increases as Covid-19 becomes more widespread in the community. We face a constant risk that a health care worker with early infection may bring the virus into our facilities and transmit it to others. Transmission from people with asymptomatic infection has been well documented, although it is unclear to what extent such transmission contributes to the overall spread of infection.1-3

More insidious may be the health care worker who comes to work with mild and ambiguous symptoms, such as fatigue or muscle aches, or a scratchy throat and mild nasal congestion, that they attribute to working long hours or stress or seasonal allergies, rather than recognizing that they may have early or mild Covid-19. In our hospitals, we have already seen a number of instances in which staff members either came to work well but developed symptoms of Covid-19 partway through their shifts or worked with mild and ambiguous symptoms that were subsequently diagnosed as Covid-19. These cases have led to large numbers of our patients and staff members being exposed to the virus and a handful of potentially linked infections in health care workers. Masking all providers might limit transmission from these sources by stopping asymptomatic and minimally symptomatic health care workers from spreading virus-laden oral and nasal droplets."

Wearing them incorrectly, makes them not work.
Only a select few know how to wear them correctly.
Therefore they aren't working.

If wearing a mask really does protect you and others, on a fundamental level, and they really were just telling us not to wear masks because they wanted to avoid a bunch of people going all toilet paper hoardy on masks back in Feb/Mar/Apr, then they would have told people to wear cloth masks until which time enough N95-type masks were available and then you should switch to those ONLY after you've been properly instructed on their use. They could have a few videos up on the NIH and CDC sites telling you how to don your masks, how often to replace them, etc.

But that didn't happen, did it? Nope. This is the disconnect that they can't overcome. Basically it was almost like certain powers that be wanted it to get bad, or really didn't care if it did as long as certain types of people were OK. And those of us with working bullshitometers detected it right quick.

Then you look at all the past studies done on masks, unpolluted by today's politics, and well what do you know, there's no consensus whatsoever that these surgical-style masks protects the average person from the flu or other viruses, in day-to-day out-and-about wearing. Then you see that Fauci was actually praising the use of HCQ to battle coronaviruses back in the early 2000's, calling it a wonder drug. Then you realize that he's actually working with a company who is making a drug that is supposed to work that's $2000/dose and isn't off-patent. Then you realize that he, along with the NIH he heads, was funding and working with the lab in Wuhan China that ****ing released this on accident (or however it happened...) and gave them $3.8 million in funding under the Obama administration. Then you realize that Trump shut down that particular odd program early in 2019, and those out-of-work virologists would have no reason to cause a circumstance that would make them once again very sought after. Then you realize that Trump has China bent over hard on their trade situation, something that they've gotten away with for far too long. Then you realize that China really doesn't give a shit about killing a few million people, hell they are loading Uyghurs into boxcars right now to be sent to who knows where.

I could literally go on and on.
