I only insure one of my houses. And the Gatlinburg fire missed it.

Insurance paid for our new roof last year, but it was "only" $17,000 or so. Just good ole 30-yr Dow Corning architectural shingles. It was all very easy dealing with the roofers and the insurance company.

So we walked Cricket, and spoke with another neighbor who is going through the same process on his roof. Same age house, and they have lived in the neighborhood as long as we have. He's STILL fighting with engineering companies, both for him, and for the insurance company, and it's still not a given. He's been doing this since September.

The guy who introduced me to the company also had battles, and ultimately won and was very happy.

We were told that our insurance company was horrible to work with and to expect a fight, or to lose outright. The roofing company and the insurance adjuster went on the roof 3 weeks ago, and checks will be cut to us (and the mortgage holder) this week.

Not sure what we did to deserve it, but happy it's working out this way.

Why in the world would you wear a Rolex while playing racquetball. My Daytona only gets worn to work, when I'm dressing up for a night with my wife, or special occasions.

For working out/exercise, I wear my Garmin (still not a cheap watch though).

Ouch!

I never take it off.

I have a crap watch that I bought, which I wear when I send the Rolex off for service, otherwise, it's on my wrist 24/7.

Yeah cheaper for sure, but hope they do not drop you after. Getting covered again with another company after a large claim puts you in no mans land. I got hit like this by Allstate years ago for a new ac unit that was damaged by lightning.

We knew that risk, but it was spawned from a natural disaster. Might as well get basically 100% of the cash I've paid into insurance for the last 23 years, to cover the loss. Again, worth the endeavor. Hopefully it doesn't yield negative results.
