Default Christmas question......

You older guys/gals how do you all handle any questions from your older sons/daughters about what you want for Christmas......

I got a note from my son.....

I wonder if maybe my reply is off base a bit, watt say you folks.....

================================================

U don't mean for Linda/me.....I hope......we can't even figger out what to get each other.....we have a house totally overloaded with crap now......all the electronics we could ever use or want.....

Course if you can get me jet fighter training, I'd love to flip one on/off a carrier, but at my age.....I suspect there are limitation even you can't survey around......

So really a card is fine...

reminds me of my shituation of getting b'day/xmas gifts for my folks.....had every thing they wanted/needed.....so now it's on the other end, and in all honesty, save your money man.......

They all know I don't need or want anything but a phone call or a visit is always welcomed.

Mrs. DAB bakes cookies and we send a big box to dad and mom. They have told us they have everything they need or want.

You don’t have to feed or display cookies. You eat them and they are gone.

Not bad. May suggest a good present would be more time spent together.

Pick some other places you want to go and make it an adventure. Many time you can around cheaper too with a few short trips.

a few years after all us kids had moved out of parents house and was on our own... they announced: "stop buying us anything for Christmas. We don't need anything, and am thinning out what we already have."

the only Christmas presents they bought were for grandkids.

my parents and I stopped exchanging Christmas presents years ago, as we had fallen into a pattern of getting each other stuff during the course of the year as needed. That being said, I don't think I'll be buying them anything significant for a few years after replacing their SUV last year We just make sure that we're together on Christmas day, we haven't missed doing that in my entire life.

When my parents got older, they didn't want any more "stuff."

So we gave them gift certificates to restaurants and theaters.
And movie passes.
Anything to get them out of the house to have a little fun.

My parents are in their 80s and don’t have much of a life anymore. They live 6 hr away from me but I see them semi-frequently. We haven’t exchanged gifts in decades, but I usually pick up something for them that has a lot of nostalgic value for us as a family. This year I’m going to get them a Hickory Farms sampler of some sort. I remember Dad always liked their cheese balls and meats when I was a kid. We always had some of that stuff around during the holidays. It’s not the greatest feeling wondering if you’ll have another holiday together. But, life trundles on.

You can buy a ride in a F-4 Phantom from the Collings foundation right there in Florida. Good luck with your training!

A few years ago I asked my kids to get me a CD that they liked that they thought I would like. Something from this century preferably. One of those ended up being one of my all time favorites.

I'm only 43, but I certainly am trying to accumulate less and get rid of more at this stage in my life. I have everything I need and want, for the most part.
