They weren't fishing today at all. Just flying around. I think they feed earlier in the morning.

You almost need a spotter. You'll be all focused in on one bird a ways out and another one will fly right over your head and you'll miss it.

I usually see only 1 or maybe 2 and they tend to be a couple hundred yards away at the closest, across a lake.

There were probably 20 of them flying around. They'd be soaring WAY up high, and then a couple would come down and I'd start shooting.

I fell off a park bench getting a few of these. I was snapping away on a few of them and two more flew RIGHT in front of me. I whipped my camera around and flopped off the edge of the bench.
