Default GTO LS7 update

Things are starting to come together. A lot of fitment trials to make sure everything works well together without having to chop anything up.

Custom dash just arrived. It's an analog that closely matches what came with many muscle cars of this era.

Now onto the rear next.
Scott

Snug fit

Pretty sexy combo

Gotta LOVE it, my last Poncho was called 'Injected Madness' in Feb '95 issue of High Perf Pontiac Mag.......you have the modern version.....

I recommend you take the Roman Numerals translation letters for your engine displacement and put on the back trunk lid......like 455 translated to CDLV as a toss off on all the European import cars in the DC region and their rear displacement markings.....I think maybe 3 folks knew what it meant in many years up there.....without me telling them, that is......

If it has an overdrive gear 373's would be the best of both worlds.

Very cool!
Hopefully you have a copy of that mag.
If not, Ebay has some for sale.

Looking at Ford 9" rears with gears in the 3.5-3.7 range.
Much higher than that is better for drag racing. I'm running 4.10s in the C5 and that's a lot of gear for the highway.

I want to have the best of both worlds as this is a street cruiser.
Highly doubt I'll ever drag race her
You get the idea.

Other thing I'm looking at is how much tire I can gain without any tubbing.
Not going to do it. There are guys out there fitting 285's on the back without rubbing issues. I think they're going with 6.5" backspacing to get it though.

Agree with you on the not tubbing thing. Looks like you have the right idea on gear ratio as well. Thought you would stay 12 bolt with your gm ride so I was thinking either 3.55 or 3.73 would work great with over drive gear. Very cool build Scott. Keep the pics coming. Great car!

Down here we cruise at 80+++ mph....and with 336 I hit ~2400 rpm....in o/drive .70 ratio....~2700 rpm seems a tad high for a steady cruise with a V8....

Depends on the over drive gear, but I get your point.

eheheh thanks....I was totally shocked they published the car, I was told to call them?? ....I forget, honestly.....so they sent around a photo guy that I met at a dragstrip during a weekday afternoon, pix taken, some months later it was published under 'Injected Madness' in a Lemans issue of that date....

I have a placque on the wall with the page spread, and a tag describing it....goes to my son in Ca.....
