I have a few of these Star pistols. 2 of the BM models which is essentially a commander size frame. Don't let the 1911 looks fool you, because there is little in common besides aesthetics. I have one that looks almost new, and one with some serious finish wear that shoots great, and paid I think $175 for it, which is almost free for an all steel gun. And the thing is, when the surplus eventually dries up, up goes the value. I shoot the fool out of mine, and for a buck fitty, they are practically paying you for the gun!!

Those pieces of junk are definitely Saturday night specials, and pure crap. I have 3 Stars. One Super B, and Two BM's. Truthfully, I got them because they were cheap, and of good quality. Accuracy is surprisingly good, as well as the overall feel when shooting. Also when the surplus market dries up, the value will go up as well. Who in their right mind ever thought a run of the mill Mosin Nagant would be more than $89?

I had a Raven in 25ACP a number of years ago that I kept in the garage in my toolbox. I only shot it a few times, because, well it was kind of dumb. I think I gave $50.00 for it. Sold it, and I specifically remember, for $125.00.

Mine ran fine, but I wouldn't trust it to carry it with a round chambered, I have read that they are pretty unsafe. There are people that collect those things.

Oh, and speaking of Nagants. Last year I almost bought a really clean M39 Finn. $425. I'm sort of pissed at myself for not buying it, but I didn't want to go through loading for another cartridge.

Sort of like the Gold Cup I passed on years ago because it was in 38 Super. $600.00. God I'm stupid.

Who would have thunk it? I wish I would have bought a PU Sniper when they were $500. I do have a few Mosins that are steadily going up in value. A beautiful hex receiver 91/30, a 1944 M44 Tula Carbine, and a really nice double stamped ministry of defense (MO) marked 91/30. Yeah, the Finn guns are getting really pricey. I wanted a Sako, but just couldn't justify it. A Tikka would have been nice too.

The only Milsurp I own is an M1 Garand. What I REALLY want is a Krag. I have a modern Winchester 1885 chambered in 30/40, so an actual Krag would be icing on the cake for me. I'm set up to load for it, and have plenty of supplies (brass etc) to do so. They are just harder than hell to find in good shape/reasonably priced etc.

My FFL guy here in town charges 10 bux for a transfer. He gets all of my transfer business.
