I put 50K cash into the market two weeks or so ago when this current correction was at it's bottom. I still think given the trump tax plan stocks will do very well in 2018. I will let that 50 k ride until later this year assuming I turn a nice profit. Then back to cash - at least for that little chunk of change. I do have significant assets in the market long term I don't play with.

You did say 2800 - 2850.
Yesterday's action kept the flag in perfect triangular shape, with the line landing around 2800.

Chart gets more interesting by the day. Sometimes all you need is a ruler.

*I'm not liking that MACD price trending line turning south before it hits zero. That's typically bearish.

She'll bounce off of 2700 and back up to 2780, rinse & repeat.
The pure definition of sideways.

It bounced off of 2700 perfectly at 10am, and then went up into good positive territory.
Then Trump opened his trap at noon....

Well... At least those scum foreigners won't be dumping steel on us anymore.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.
It's two weeks since the tariffs were announced, and it's all engines go.
All of the doom and gloom can't seem to keep the market down.
I still say October is the month to pull the rip cord.
Until then, buy the dip and sell the rip.

I did say 2780, but it looks like 2750 is the new resistance.
Is it ok to dream?
Ok, if it breaks through that, it's onward and upward.
If not, then we're stuck in a sideways trading range.
Yep, a very interesting chart indeed!

WOW.

That jobs report this AM.
  • + 313,000 jobs
  • Avg. Hourly earnings up 2.6%
  • 800,000+ moving back into labor force, LFPR up to 63%
  • Unemployment holds at 4.1% (although it's still largely meaningless as a comparison tool because of the massive decline in LFPR we experienced over the past decade).

What a day !!!
The S&P blasted through 2750 AND 2780!, and CLOSED over both of them!.
Onward and upward we'll go.
The flag was decimated.
Next stop, 2800
Mr thinks we are going to test the old high.

Not me.
20% or I'm just pizzed.
As of this morning, I'm up 9.3%.
I can't wait until I see it tomorrow morning.

Don't get me wrong. In bad years, I'd take 6%-10%, but in good years, if I can't nail at least 20%, I'm not doing my job right.
Last year? 23%
I'd say over the past 10 years, I've been over 10% 8 times and over 20% 6 times.
One year I was down though.
One out of 10 ain't a bad track record.
Kenny said it best.

it is also true that if you have done it right, you get to a certain point where you no longer have to take so many risks for so many hoped for rewards.

if you expected to live another 40 years, and you needed $50,000 a year, that would be $2,000,000. so if you had $2M or more, there would be very little need to take additional risk.

I'm 54.
I have a few years to keep "risking".
So are you though.
It's a 401k.... The risks are minimal, unless you keep it on auto pilot.
