The Sunday Afternoon Puzzle!

Just a plain ole puzzle, no tricks. Grab and beer, and no Googling!

1. During WWII, there was a bridge connecting Germany and Switzerland, and on the German side, there was a sentry tower with a guard in it. He would come out every three minutes to check on the bridge, and he had orders to turn back anyone who tried to get into Germany, and shoot anyone trying to escape without a pass. There was a woman who desperately needed to get into Switzerland, and she knew she didn't have time to get a pass. It would take her at least six minutes to cross the bridge, but she managed to do it. How?



2. If a plane sits on a conveyer belt whose speed matches that of the plane in the opposite direction, can the plane take off?

3. This problem can be solved by pre-school children in five to ten minutes, by programmers in an hour and by people with higher education...well, check it yourself.

"Hello and what's your name?" said Jane to the boy.
"It's the same as Daddy's".
"Ah, so it's Peter is it?" said Jane

1. This is super easy. She waited until he just returned from his last check, giving her three minutes to sprint across towards Switzerland. Then, when half way, she stopped and turned around. Since she had no pass, he made her return to Switzerland.
