Default Trailer brand name for track

I want to take a few trips down the track but will need a trailer to make sure I can get back home. My main concern is to get a trailer that I can drive on and open the door to get out, I am a little big to be crawling out the window like the Dukes of Hazard.

I was told Featherlite will be a good one to purchase. Any other brands that are known to work and brands to avoid? I am hoping not to build one, I don't think I would save any money but at least it would be custom made.

Have you thought of an open trailer and a really good cover?

If you're just towing to the track and back a few times get a good open trailer. They're much easier to deal with.

I have a 18' full deck by Sweet Rivers Trailers and love it. It's designed as a low car hauler so the deck is about 4" lower than a normal trailer. I can drive the Corvette on w/o any additional ramps and can open the door over the tires (has a removable fender). Withe the panoz i need extension boards.

It has 3500lb axles, brakes on both axles, and a spare tire all for $2600. I've had it for nearly 3 years now. I've considered an enclosed becuae the panoz has no side windows, but it's require a bigger truck and more space to store it.

FYI don't buy new... check out racingjunk.com and the road race forums like sccaforums.com and nasaforums.com. Lots of people getting out of the roar racing hobby due to the economy and selling their setups.

I preferred an enclosed but most either don't have a door by the drivers door or there isn't enough clearance to open my door due to the tire wheel well in the way and I don't want to build a ramp for it in the trailer.

I searched Sweet Rivers Trailers, looks like there are plenty out there, and I will search racingjunk.com also, thanks for the tips. I am thinking this winter might be the best time of the year to buy.

Open trailers are good and featherlite makes a good one, that the left side fender comes off , or swings forward , for door opening, and they have a nose guard for it also, but I
WOULD NOT, trailer a car with a cover on it, it will seriously mess up a paint job, and don't ax me how I know.

An open trailer is less expensive, and pulls alot easier, and if you just go to the track and back, you can either build some storage on it or put it all in the back of a pickup, tires and such.
An enclosed trailer will pull harder and use more fuel, but you can keep all your belongings inside and out of sight, and it can be usede as a hangout during the day.
You can even sleep in and stay out the weather. They also can be used for storage during the off season.

I personally would go with one with at least 7000# axles and brakes on all four wheels

They got a lot of trailers out there, take your time and find one that is right for you and what you wanna do with a trailer.

You should also get a K3500HD Crew Cab with a Duramax to go along with the trailer.

Thanks Joe, maybe next pickup upgrade. I have a 2500HD ext cab right now, that will pull it without any problems.

Back in 2002 I bought a brand new 20' 7000 lb Texas Bragg Classic Car Carrier from Superior Trailer in Va Beach. They had to bring it up from the Burlington NC store (free transport). I put a ton of miles on it all over the east coast before I moved up to an enclosed. I still have it and keep it stored inside. I've carried C3's, C4's, C5's, and a C6 on it with no problems. I even hauled the wifes 04 Tahoe after a little fender bender. The only door/fender problem I had was the C4 racecar, that puppy was low and had some Greenwood side skirts that rubbed the top of the fender. Oh yeah, the ramps that came with it were too damn short for the low slung Corvette noses.

That is what I am looking for, I want one long enough for about a 3 or 4 foot storage (tires & junk) and act as a stone guard on the front, maybe 20 or 22 footer I am thinking. When I get some time off, I need to cruise to some of the local places to decide what I want for a trailer.

Hey, you still looking??

I'm selling my 2002 Texas Bragg 20CCC (20 foot Classic Car Carrier) 7000lb
I've owned it since new from Superior trailer in VA Beach/Burlington NC.
It's been garage kept and is in very good condition. I used it as a back up and for local use, as I also owned two other enclosed trailers during this time period.
Specs are in the link above. 20 foot full diamond plate deck. I added 4 tie downs for a total of 8.
New tires 2 years ago and used very little since then.
$2750.00 with straps and brand new spare tire. $2600.00 without

I can get some better pictures this weekend. These are from 2005.

Hey Jeff,

I decided I better wait until I pay off the Vette before I blow up the tranny/diff. I hope to upgrade both for my winter project and then make a few passes on the track next year. I won't need a trailer until next spring. Thanks for keeping me in mind.
