Apparently Large Blob thinks that I use a portable heater as my heating system. Maybe that's common in his 'hood, but not mine.

Cut one down on my property recently that was 60 years old. There are larger ones that are probably 100 years old.

I realize that is not comparable to a 300 year old oak.
But still substantial considering my property is a tree farm and most of the trees are planted and harvested every 15-20 years or so.

Surprised that some of the trees that have not been taken. Until I learned more about it. In my area most planted pine is harvested for pulpwood.
Quick growing planted pine doesn’t have the required growth rings per inch to be used for utility poles, pilings, or timber.

I’m not an expert but I enjoy the process and I’m obviously interested in the details.
Considering planting Christmas trees. One they look great in the field. And two, I can harvest them in 5-8 years…meaning maybe I’ll be alive to see a few dollars from my efforts.
