Default Popcorn questions........

I'm kind of a popcorn junkie....it just isn't movie night without it. I was into the Orville's buttered micro stuff until I checked all the crap that's in it, all very bad for you. So my question is has anyone had success with using olive oil to pop it in the traditional stovetop way, or does the oil burn? And, I was going to dissolve sea salt in the oil before I add the corn....anyone done this?.....instead of after?

Kind of partial to Act II Butter Lovers popcorn, maybe a bag a week or every other.

I believe olive oil burns at a lower temp threshold than some other oils, may not be good for popcorn. Use olive oil to sautee in seafood dishes, found out if you set the heat too high, it will burn quick and stink up the house....ask me how I know.

Can't really recommend an oil, back in the day, Mom used to use Crisco lard to pop it over the stove, of course that and others led to my closed arteries later in life.

Interesting, I'll have to check it out to see if anyone carries it up here.
Last night I tried half olive oil and half veg oil, and it worked great, but I learned that kosher salt (sea salt) doesn't dissolve in oil worth a damn. Topped it with melted butter and a few shakes of hot sauce, Mmmmm!

I've also read that coconut oil is very good for you, and your BRAIN!
