Default Voter ID - I mean really!

If a citizen does not have the mental adeptness to obtain a photo ID, do we really want their help in choosing our elected officials?

I wish it was that easy in NJ .....

Renew a NJ Driver's License

1 primary document proving your identity, such as your: Birth certificate. ...
1 secondary document proving your identity, such as your: Military ID. ...
Your Social Security number (SSN).
Proof of your address, such as: Utility bills, issued in the last 90 days. ...
Payment.

but it's a good idea I think

Born in Md. 1944, moved to Tejas in '70 no OEM birth cert...took my Md. license and I guess contacted Md..??? a few years later it was Ark. and drove with that license for several more years.....both of them renewed using friend's addresses.....eventually got another Md. license.....no one asked for a BCert......interesting in that when moving to Florida here in '95, they demanded an OEM BC from Md......so off to Glen Burnie? for a copy and so got my Fl. ticket.....witch I show to vote here.....

Hang on just a sec, I totally agree with you from a common sense point of view. HOWEVER, Constitutionally speaking it is the right of citizens to vote. the Constitution does not mention anything about mental capacity, and as soon as you go down that path you're on a really slippery slope. If we have to qualify it, by what means will it be qualified, and by whom. It's basically the same argument 2nd amendment proponents like to make. Shall not be infringed, while not stated with those same exact words, the voting rights amendments should be interpreted exactly the same way, citizen, means citizen and is not qualified by mental capacity.

My sister also lives in NJ and in her county she had to show her license to vote...in ours they didn't ask so I asked why my sister had to show hers....our county people said it is against the law to ask for proof !

Like it or not, until there is an amendment that states otherwise, if the prisoner is a citizen of the United States, yes.

Liberals don't think for themselves.

They just parrot back what they've been told to parrot back.

Hence, the NPC meme.

Of which, this is totally representative.

Sis is 13 years older than me, so age 87, and we got into this shit a bit on the phone a couple daze ago, there she sets in her one bedroom apt. in Silver Spring Md, just outside the DC line by maybe 150' or so, and true to form for so many decades, being a member of the lower level DC 'establushmint' she still thinks like a commie liberal on all points, and her 'retarrment' is bringing in no less than 80k/year.....your tax money.....her hubby finally made it into the Cosmos Club in NW Wash Dc.....just before he died from cigarettes/cancer....
about 32 years ago.....

We have them in Texas, I had to show mine.

Wife and I were in New Orleans a year or two ago. We came out of this bar in the early afternoon, and there was a girl standing there asking for signatures on this petition. We thought we'd be game, then she starts blabbing about voter ID laws are racist...blah blah. We laughed, said we're from Texas, and walked away.
