Started my boys on handguns when they were 7 also, but no 10mm here, they had to settle for the 44 magnum

I started my boy (now 38) when he was 10. Had nothing to do with "rights or 2a." Just familiarity so not to do something stupid. It was an assault style .22.

He was very good with it. It had odd shaped bullets and would jam frequently.
We had an AK 47 for a while. The boy was a good shot with it but more of a novelty. Kind of like a regretful purchase.

A young cop neighbor was interested in buying it for himself
to get familiar with it in case he came across one

About that time, my boy stated to go hunting with his uncles so we got a 270.
Not sure but he might still have that one. I always kept the guns at my house instead of his.

I only watched a few minutes...that little girl is awesome. Smart, well spoken, entertaining, and a very disciplined shooter.

A very good friend lost his son to a something stupid accident. His son was taught proper firearm safety from the time he was a little boy. My buddy is as responsible as anyone here with firearms.

His son was hanging out with some friends who were NOT as responsible. He wasn't happy with the way his friends were handling a firearm, told them 'this ain't a ****ing toy' and long story short, the thing discharged and he was killed. (No it wasn't intentional there were multiple witnesses.)

My point is you can control one thing -your thing- and that's all you can do. Something stupid happens despite our best intentions.

Yup, "Chinese Norinco" my boy and I were visiting my family back in NH in the late 90's. My dad told me about this place he found up in the northern part of the state, so we took a drive up. This guy had quite a store.

Bought one along with a hard case and brought it back as checked luggage on the plane.

On another visit back a couple years later, we drove up and the feds had shut him down. Never knew why.

Looked like this

This time period was pre 9/11. Access and public opinion was not like it was after

What in the actual **** is an "assault style" .22? Oh, it's a scary black gun, right?

Well that s the term used these days. Kinda resembled an M16 but was a .22. Bought it in Walmart!

Yep gets gun "knowledge" from CNN and other liberal progressive sources.

Buys gun from wall mart. No self respecting, gun knowledgeable people in my state (NY) buy guns from wall mart, they go to a real gun store. The people around the gun counter at wall mart, if you can find one that has the keys know less about firearms than my cat does.

Thanks for the good explanation Slew.

556 round is a 22 caliber, technically. Just a bit more push than a 22lr.

I stopped at 10mm. The cost and hastle to find outweighs any perceived benifit over 9mm.

Here in Alaska there is a huge amount of 10mm on the shelves. I would figure Idaho would be close.

I had one of those 40 years ago. Squires Bingham was the brand, manufactured in the Philippines. Good squirrel getter but it took a half box of ammo for each kill if I missed the first shot. Basically one magazine = one squirrel. Ton-o-fun, super fast shooter.

Here's a picture of one -

The difference between that little girl who can shoot the 10mm. And FBI agents, is that her training was better, and she’s sharper.

That "term" is utter bullshit. Every single firearm ever made could be used...illegally...to "assault" others. Giving a bullshit name to an inanimate object is ridiculous. More people are killed each year with "assault knives and spoons" than are killed by firearms.
