Trump guilty of fraud, big shock I know

NEW YORK (AP) — A judge ruled Tuesday that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House.

Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York’s attorney general, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.

Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s business licenses be rescinded as punishment, making it difficult or impossible for them to do business in New York, and said he would continue to have an independent monitor oversee the Trump Organization’s operations.

One interesting "fact" the judge revealed to us is....Mar-a-Lago is worth only $ 18M. See, Trump claimed it was worth more, so that makes him a criminal. Judge says it's worth $ 18M, it's worth $ 18M, not a penny more.

The whole thing is infuriating, it's just in your face lawfare corruption. Hopefully it gets reversed on appeal, but the point of the exercise is a struggle session.....humiliate and hit Trump in the wallet.

It is infuriating but for a different reason than you describe. He is a dishonest man, that fact seems to elude you. Even as dishonest as he is people in our party still want him back in the White House rather than choosing an honest candidate.

Have you ever gone to the local appraisal district to dispute the valuation of your house or business? I have. Lots of people do. There are lines of people daily doing that. And what are they doing? They're coming in, pointing out the lowest comps they can find, pointing out every single possible flaw on the property, and otherwise trying to frame their property as a shithole, while on the other side, the appraisal district tries to represent your property as the Taj Mahal. And those same people, if trying to get a loan on the property, will try and present it AS the Taj Mahal, downplaying flaws, and using comps on the high end of the spectrum, while the lender's appraiser will pick it apart to make it sound like a shithole. That's just the way things are done.

In the end, both the taxing district, and the bank, take your input, their input, and THEY figure what THEY think your property is worth. In Trump's case, his documentation specifically states something to the effect of "do your own due diligence, don't just take my word for it."

And the banks that were purportedly defrauded? They have teams of people to do just that....their own due diligence. If the bank didn't feel comfortable giving the loan, it wouldn't have. After all, Trump isn't a non White that the banks would be forced to lend money to, even knowing he had no way to pay it back. Remember the "housing bust?" That was because the government was forcing lenders to give loans to people who everyone knew up front couldn't pay those loans.

Trump borrowed money from lenders that know what they're doing. Not one of them lost a penny on a Trump loan, yet Trump is the bad guy, while all your non-White buddies that got home loans they promptly defaulted on....no problem there. GMAB
