I go across right at Ogdensburg. It's right at the end of HWY 416. The Seaway Skyway and the St. Lawrence international bridge.
I wanted to avoid the holiday traffic that starts tomorrow evening. Breezed right through the border, no waiting.

I left this morning and was back by noon. Wham bam thank you ma'am trip.

Weather was looking ugly around the river corridor so I took off. Usually I hit the Wallyworld for some grocery items we can't get or that are expensive up here..... Damn Walmart parking lot was full.....so no other shopping for me.

good afternoon barsluts! ......slow day up north, just watching the tube and the snow fly outside the window. Picked up the snow blower this morning so we're ready to rumble.

Did some vittles shopping for Christmas eve......tortierre and Christmas plum pudding and a few sides.

I made them at the restaurant for 15 years, part of our regular menu. So I'm a little tired of making them, so I'm cheating these days and buying them. The one's I buy are close to mine, made with beef, veal, and pork.

what's your recipe?

Going to my daughter's house for Christmas eve dinner. Going to be 25 people there. We're having prime rib and Dungeness crab. Someone is bringing live crab, which we can't buy around here, he's going out to the coast and buy them right off the boat. I'm going to steam them Maryland style and clean them for the wimps that can't do it themselves and make some garlic bread. Should be a fun time.

My grandson's wife had to put down her Rotweiler she has had for ten years because they have a new baby and the dog was being aggressive to her. Sad story and I know it was difficult for her, but the dog had a history of aggression and no rescue group would take him. I think she did the right thing.

They have other dogs, including an old male Pug. My grandson, unbeknownst to her got her a new black Pug puppy for Christmas, and they've kept her stashed at my granddaughter's place for several weeks. It will be a surprise for her new mom and we are all looking forward to that.

Sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of work for you. Cleaning crab for 25 people! What a mess.....a delicious mess but still a mess.

Tourtierre is just meat pie. We call it that due to the French influence up here. It's spiced a little different with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg as well.

Nanaimo bars are a delicious dessert from western Canada.....Nanaimo BC. Layers of chocolate, a touch of coconut, and custard, on graham cracker crust. *Correct me if I'm wrong Al. Never made them from scratch....

The bottom layer is made with melted chocolate, graham cracker crumbs and coconut. Middle layer is custard, top layer is chocolate.

today's fun: hauled 2 tanks of water. then took my old Winchester model 54 (pre-dates the model 70) down to the shop. took it apart, cleaned it, inspected it, lubed it well, put it back together. it's way happier now. decided not to mess with the original stock. it's worn on the checkering, but that's part of it being 83 years old. still works.
